From an economic perspective the question has to be considered:

Do you shut everything down for a month. Which would be god awful.

Or is it better to die by a thousand stab wounds and drag it out.


It all depends on how bad you think this can get. And if you listened to any of the scientists who spoke today to congress it’s going to be ugly. On top of that if you look at the countries who were aggressive about it they have faired better then those who did not.

And it’s not over in these countries like China. They have turned a corner but tens of thousands more will still die

My very uneducated guess is that we are going to end up shutting it down for about two weeks. Anything after that, will hurt the people who live week to week.

You are making a huge assumption. The virus is still spreading in those countries. They have slowed the growth. That’s promising. But they are no where near the end of this.

What the chart shows me is the huge discrepancy between the infected and those recovered.
