Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

The travel ban doesn't make any sense now. At the start of this maybe but now its just being used as optics.

It seems like we need to combine that with some localized restrictions, at least until the rate of growth slows. The virus is here. Stopping others from bringing it in only matters if you take steps to also contain it internally.

Same. I rewound it to make sure I heard right. Pretty sure he said this includes cargo.

That puts a ton of uncertainty in my industry. I imagine cargo companies are going to be getting on the phone to make sure the cargo portion is really needed. 30 days is a long time.
If true and the economy collapses he deserves to lose the election

Why would you exclude the UK? It’s not based on numbers.

Also, what about what we’re doing here in this country to curb the spread? What about expedited testing?

What would you suggest to curb the spread? Just quarantine every single area? This thing will just have to run its course like other viruses.

The world has gone crazy. A bunch of people (like some in this thread) have whipped the country into a mass panic attack.

Three months ago no one knew it existed. Today it's in about 100 countries and spreading. Nothing to see here.

He said the word cargo too but the context was jumbled. I expect there will be clarification before markets open.

"These restrictions will are be adjusted subject to conditions on the ground. These prohibitions will not only apply to the tremendous amount of trade and cargo, but various other things as we get approval. Anything coming from Europe to the United States is what we are discussing."

Why make a travel ban if you make an exception that defeats the purpose? Also, the ban only slows the spread if you’re also taking strong action here, where it already is. Didn’t really hear anything about that.

Seems like window dressing. Thank goodness local and state governments as well as the private sector can lead themselves.

I'd say longer than that if we're starting to shut down countries and business. I think it'd be a year out today if we started getting good news in April.

Right now it's unknown how many people it may infect. If it ends up in the millions worldwide, with the reaction we're seeing now, it'll either be accept the risk of getting sick and society functions as best it can or continue to shut down domestic/international business and enter a global depression for years.
So global depression it is.

Because I have a friend that consults with the CDC. He isnt worried in the slightest. And of course there is that whole better than a 95% survival rate.
So the head guy Dr Fauci is saying one thing but your friend says another. You can believe whoever you want but telling people this is nothing is dangerous.
