I'm sure neither wasn't season. JG locked them both out and refused to let them in......They have no choice, but to be devoted, Weinke demands it of them. Who doesnt want to hone their craft? I've never met a QB who wasn't an Alpha Male.

I don’t dislike you and I think you know what you’re talking. I also don’t believe anybody is totally objective...and that includes you. Also time ain’t proving crap. These are OPINIONS yours and mine.

As a Freshman. The point is your cult idol was worse in his last two games. Maurer has to improve. Never have I said any different. You think JG is "great" and needs no major improvement.

Yep. When you use stats out of context... you're abusing them.

I'd say a whole season is a good sample. I can pull two games and make Peyton, Montana, or Brady look bad. I can pull two games and make Jameis Winston look like a HOF qb.

Right. You can parse the stats and act like JG was "great" then parse them again and in an effort to deny Maurer did some really good things. He made some throws like the one to #4 vs MSU that JG just has not and maybe cannot make. You've downplayed the pass to MC vs UGA... but JG missed on that same route to a wide open #4.

Stats have a purpose.... but you can't use them out of context like you constantly try to do.

How did he begin the season and finish it? How bad was he against UF? UGA?

Maurer is a Fr who may or may not be a good QB for UT. He did some really good things but some bad things too. He played like a talented but undeveloped Fr.

JG was a RS Jr. He should be much more consistent than he was. He shouldn't have problems with ball placement or leading receivers or throwing late. He shouldn't be one of the SEC's worst in time to throw.

k-town throws those stats out in an effort to make JG look better. He doesn't compare them same game... he hates that comparison because it says exactly the opposite of the narrative he's pushing.

They have time they have to be there but the NCAA limits contact with coaches unless that changed very recently. Dobbs spent a lot of extra time in the film room and it helped him develop.

There's also a matter of how well they take to it and are able to apply it. JG had 3 off seasons in the film room and part of them with Dobbs. He didn't start managing the O well in games until late last season.

I’m familiar with our mutual friend and have had similarly fascinating disagreements over QBs with his personal evaluation system as the backdrop. Not a fan of your TAKE THIS OUT OF THE EQUATION argument...it’s too pick and choose. Bad games bad sequences flat bad play are part of a season. You’re good for it or you refuse and start spitting excuses. I don’t remember the last truly great QB enshrined for his excuses. Roger Staubach is in the HOF...Danny White does Cowboys games on the radio...doesn’t matter if Everson Walls had covered Dwight Clark differently.

JG has the arm talent to make the needed throws necessary. However, the more I watch him play, the more I realize how much of his mistakes are all in his head. That’s not a knock on him but at this point in time, we can’t afford to take a chance on him making those very same mistakes again & again. We have too much at stake this season.

Harrison Bailey to me looks to be more college ready out of all the QBs. I know he’s just a freshman and hasn’t played against college defenses yet but he’s got the confidence, talent, and willingness to compete at a high level. He’s too good to keep off the field. You have to give him a chance.

I’m optimistic that Pruitt will make the right decision choosing his QB whether it’s JG, Shrout, Bailey, Maurer...

How many have said a change needs to happen?

We all know change at QB will happen.

I’m really pulling for Vols to pull off an Undefeated season.

For that to happen again we need this team to change. Is there anything they can’t be better at compared to last year’s team? The were good and great at times last year. They need to be more consistent at being great.

As for QB, I‘M pulling for JG to get us there. He has paid his dues and I expect he will change enough compared to last year, to get us there.

He did some great things last year, just not enough of them.

It’s all about how the players spend their free time. If they are up there goofing off, you can lead a horse to water, those guys are in paradise and I expect them to put in the work it will take to be great more often.

Consistently great is the bar. Neyland pitched a shut out for a whole year. That’s the standard. I expect the Defense to change to a shut down defense. To expect goose eggs for the year would be greedy. Hold them under 20.

Please tell me a Dooley team doesn’t hold to great Offensive records.

I expect our offense to score more points than last year. An offense gets the ball 10-15 times a game(Educated guess.), 50 points a game is greedy, 28 is not. As a foot note, I expect us to stop giving up points while we are on offense.

It’s all about the free time.

I’m really looking forward to game day.

Sorry man but I’m bout to bust your bubble yet again. Brian’s first 3 starts we’re against #3, unranked, #1. He was 52% , 2 tds, 4 ints through those games as a whole. So I thought It would be a good comparison to Bo Nixs first 3 ranked opponents given Bos ranked opponents were not nearly as high as Brian’s 2.

Bo Nix vs (11)Oregon- 13/31 177 yds. 2tds 2ints

Not the point. It’s his team to do what he wishes. I’m only pointing out the similarities of the qbs and the differences in handling. Truth is both qbs saved their HCs job last season. Had Bo been a bust, Gus is wearing a different color this year. Had JP never made a switch he would more than likely been searching himself.

I actually just believe you have to evaluate guys IN context... which he refuses to do. He throws raw statistics around while ignoring JG's ineffectiveness in critical ways and areas.

Maurer did some good things. He did some bad things. If he could be consistent doing the good things then I think he can be a really good QB. To that... k-town throws out a completion % as if that takes away the good play. I'm not claiming greatness for Maurer. Only that k-town's methods for criticizing him aren't legitimate... nor are his for claiming JG's greatness.

My opinion of JG has been developed over 3 years. His weaknesses have manifested themselves in different ways but have always been there. It would be far better for UT right now if he didn't have them leaving no questions about the position.
