You said he ONLY had 3 opportunities. Did those come without a ball? Don’t remember taking any particular shots at his high school team’s defense. You’ve inferred that the whole schmebang (ceptin him) sucked and that his stats mean more thusly. Had no reason to dispute your account.

But Pruitt’s move to go with Guarantano landed the remaining wins. As late as the bowl game, I cussed JG and wanted Maurer to come in...then he did and I got over it. And I don’t THINK you’re only here for an individual. You’ve unabashedly PROVEN it to me. Our conversations would be more open and honest if you’d admit it. I don’t even wear the Power T EVERYWHERE I go. That you claim to do so hints that you’re selling some smelly snake oil.

The point about the uber talent arounf Bailey is, had he thrown many of those td passes to more pedestrian talent like most HS qbs have to, they wouldnt have been tds. Same with the yards totals, with out the talented guys he had on his team those totals would have been far less.


Yes we want our qb to throw to his best weapons. However the weapons on our team wont out talent every other defender they face...thus the hesitancy on the part of sane posters in announcing a young freshman as the next coming.

For the record one of our most promising young WRs was a frequent target of HB's when HB was a junior in hs. HB will be okay when the coaches decide he's ready. Personally, the sooner the better, QB play has been less than optimum and that's being kind. Our QB position needs to quit being a question mark season over season, game after game, week after week, series after series, play after play.

We have a history and your portion of it includes the strategy of juxtaposing your words on me. If you read WITHOUT INFERRING AND IMPOSING then nothing you’ve surmised has been stated BY ME. And this is a discussion, so quit getting frustrated and desperate and using the old tired “triggered” crutch...it’s beneath you. So stop, kitten. The only QB candidate that can trot out EXPERIENCE in any significant quantity, is JG. And we know where you fall on that one. Let’s hope that it’s not an all or nothing REALITY unlike multiple other programs who’ve rode with 1st or second year options. Having a pretty good day...much better when you’re gasping for air.

Not frustrated except you seem intent on mincing words rather than having a conversation. And no, I haven't "juxtaposed" any words on you. You said you think HB is the next most likely option if JG folds. There's no problem having that opinion. I just don't share it.

I like what we got from Maurer at times. At other times, he made really bad decisions. He appeared to have caught or passed Shrout in management of the O. Durability could be a question but I'm going to hold out hope that his head/neck injury was a freak thing and not something that will recur.

I hope HB is great. If he comes in and beats out all 5 of the other guys and plays like UT's Lawrence then what Vol fan won't be stoked? But as we sit here today, I think Maurer has the best shot at taking the job from JG if he's put the time in the film room. He's actually already done it once. If he could have stayed upright then he probably keeps the job last year.

No. We don’t. It’s a part of the game and a part of the position. You’re not always going to score, get first downs or have long drives. Especially after coming back from injury. That’s not the way it works for anyone.

You simply have no long standing connection and will disappear. Hoping you expand your pretense to include recruiting, our history and other sports...enjoy efforts.

But since parsing stats is OK by you... JG was 50% with 1 TD and 3 INT's in his last 2 games. Since Maurer's first two games EVER as a college QB in junk time vs UTC and UF... mean he "sucks" then it is perfectly fair to say that a RS Jr's last two games mean he sucks... right?

Maurer without those two games was 50% with 2 TD's and 4 INT's (one of which was a bobble by JJ on a perfectly thrown ball).... which still includes MU and IU when Maurer again had just a few plays.

I'd say a whole season is a good sample. I can pull two games and make Peyton, Montana, or Brady look bad. I can pull two games and make Jameis Winston look like a HOF qb.
