This morning in Cookeville we had 15,000 volunteers at 8AM. It got to the point where officials had to begin turning away people willing to help because there were TOO many people already helping. We truly are the VOLUNTEER STATE!!!
We are now at the same point here in Mt. Juliet. We’ve had to close the volunteer pool because of so many volunteers. We are expecting 10-20 thousand here on Saturday.

That’s my state.

I don’t want to say too much more about this subject, but one last thing. We have had help from so many other cities, not to mention companies and just random people with equipment. Without them, we would be over a year cleaning up. These are guys who love to work, love to help, and have worked their butts off.

Work sun up to sun down? No sweat. Work all weekend? Got it. Work tonight and then all day tomorrow? On it.

They deserve recognition wherever I can give it, so here’s a list of the other Public Works departments who have sacrificed their time and equipment for us:

  • Smyrna
  • LaVergne
  • Murfreesboro
  • Hendersonville
  • White House
  • Gallatin
  • Columbia
  • Franklin
  • Chattanooga

And I may have missed one or two and still might have more who help in the near future. If this represents a city you live it, be proud. They have represented you well. Wherever you live, thank your Public Works employees. It is a whole world of people who live to serve and are always under appreciated. I am forever grateful for them.

Welp, much ado about nothing, it turns out:

YouTube TV strikes a deal with Sinclair for 19 sports networks, but not YES or Fox Sports West

"YouTube TV and Sinclair have struck a deal that will save live sports for most users across the country, but fans in bigger markets such as New York or Los Angeles may want to look for a different streaming TV provider.

In an announcement Thursday, Sinclair said that 19 of its 21 Fox Sports stations will continue to be carried by Google's YouTube TV, with notable exceptions being the YES Network in New York, and Fox Sports West and Prime Ticket in LA."

Grrrrrr. The ONLY reason I haven’t cut the cord yet is Dodgers games. I have Spectrum cable and that’s the only way to watch them. Can’t do MLBtv because I’m in the blackout area for Dodgers games.

I’d drop cable in a heartbeat if there was an alternative. I watch the Dodgers pretty much every night and even my wife who’s made me quit nearly every habit I’ve ever enjoyed would never ask me to give that up.

Just basic tribalism. The tribe shrinks to the context of the conversation.

America > World
South > Rest of America
Tennessee > South
East Tennessee > rest of Tennessee
Knoxville > rest of East Tennessee
East Knoxville > rest of Knoxville
My neighborhood > other neighborhoods
My family/team/religion/school/etc.> other family/team/religion/school/etc.
Me tho > my family/team/religion/school/etc.

Idk. You think it's at least possible that some, like me, just dislike the insulting ones and the racists, as was said?

I believe the context of the OP was the generalization of North vs South and someone asked “what do you have against the North.

The main point I was trying to make was how awesome I am though, so I’m just going to take your post as agreement

By perspective, I mean context... not your opinion.

He can't be both raw and a finished product (bust?) at the same time. A small sample size can't point to a lower floor unless a higher ceiling is also possible.

In my opinion right now....He's raw and unless he develops the rest of his game outside layups and dunks he will be a bust (in the future).

That's a pretty broad stroke statement that can honestly be made about most NBA rookies, but ESPN is propping him up already as the next LeBron and he's no where near as good as LeBron was coming outta HS. (doesn't mean he can't develop, not saying that)

What are you all currently watching?

I'm working on:
The Outsider
The Expanse
McMillions
Current Curb season

Awaiting Westworld and Ozarks, both on season 3.

The amount of high quality television these days is just insane. Imo it is eclipsing film as the top medium to tell an in-depth, fully fleshed-out story.

About to binge (catchup) on Westworld, a season behind on Peaky Blinders, waiting on season 3 of Mindhunter, still need to start Ozarks, Hunters, also gotta catchup on ballers

You're not wrong, I honestly don't have enough time in the day to watch all the fantastic content out there.

I'm not sure when it happened, but whichever show was first to work on each episode as adding to the story (not treat it like it's own brand new event) broke the mold, especially in the drama/suspense realm for television.

You ran into one of my locals? John Boy's BBQ. He setup in Cookeville I know and gave out free BBQ all day to folks.

Funny thing was he ain't ask nobody for help or nothing, dude pulled his pit and just went did it. Nothing on his social media, no picture sharing. Only way I found out was our local "see the county" page shared it. He's good people if ya get a chance, go shake his hand and have some of his meat.
