Just basic tribalism. The tribe shrinks to the context of the conversation.

America > World
South > Rest of America
Tennessee > South
East Tennessee > rest of Tennessee
Knoxville > rest of East Tennessee
East Knoxville > rest of Knoxville
My neighborhood > other neighborhoods
My family/team/religion/school/etc.> other family/team/religion/school/etc.
Me tho > my family/team/religion/school/etc.

As does the framing of one's beliefs to fit one's narrative.

Just curious, is tribalism by its definition a negative condition, like you imply from your examples?

Watching The Good Place. It's pretty good. Just lighthearted and funny.
Watched it years ago when people at work kept referencing it with all the Blake Bortles jokes.

Another comedy I just couldn't get into. It was good, but not great, to me. I need comedies to be extra good or else I just get bored with them. On the other hand, dramas and sci fi can be mediocre as hell, but as long as there is a mystery, I'll keep watching forever. I have to keep pulling the thread.

Welp, much ado about nothing, it turns out:

YouTube TV strikes a deal with Sinclair for 19 sports networks, but not YES or Fox Sports West

"YouTube TV and Sinclair have struck a deal that will save live sports for most users across the country, but fans in bigger markets such as New York or Los Angeles may want to look for a different streaming TV provider.

In an announcement Thursday, Sinclair said that 19 of its 21 Fox Sports stations will continue to be carried by Google's YouTube TV, with notable exceptions being the YES Network in New York, and Fox Sports West and Prime Ticket in LA."

Well this is excellent news for me because I am trying the Hulu free trial and I'm not a fan at all. Looks like I'll be going back now

I would agree that The Good Place is good but not great. It is just a short show I can watch after the kids are in bed and I can relax my brain.

I can't watch a mediocre drama or one that goes on forever like CSI. I get bored.

Taking my wife to Charlotte tomorrow night for the Sturgill and Tyler show at the Spectrum for her birthday any suggestions on where to eat would be appreciated.

If you eat at Queen City Q they will usually give a pass to park in their garage for free. Easy walk over. Double check though. I know that's true for games not 100% sure about concerts. Not the best BBQ in town but it's not bad and free Uptown parking is worth it.

Vapiano's is a good meal and so is Essex. Really like Essex.
Depends what you're looking for and how fancy you want to get. I work right there so I know everything around there. Ton of options.
Queen City Q is the only one I know that may include parking. But if you have any questions about a place, let me know.

At the risk of exposing my shallowness, I honestly haven’t put much thought into it. 😁

On one hand, it creates community and a sense of identity. On the other hand, by nature, it creates exclusion and possible closed mindedness.

I think context is key, specifically how it is expressed. As a Tennessean, I take pride in the Volunteer spirit which serves to rebuild the tornado torn areas. To the extreme, theoretically, it would be poorly expressed by neglecting, let’s say, Alabama if the same tragedy struck there
