If you think the best and brightest work, have worked, or ever will work for the government, you are going to be sorely disappointed. These are generally the people who manage to ignite a bigger fire while intending to only start a backfire to starve the current problem. That you libs have seen it in action and still want more, is truly astounding.

What is absurd is thinking that all persons/parents are responsible.
And the height of all absurdities is to think:
-That those irresponsible persons/parents do no harm to responsible people.
-That government plays no role in protecting the responsible from the irresponsible.
-That the government plays no role in helping the irresponsible become responsible.

Lets just try to imagine what Hog would do if he got sick.
First he would deny it.
Second he would isolate himself from his family. Would he be smart enough to do that?
If he did isolate himself he would either go to quarantine or steal someone else's medicine and food
If he didn't isolate himself from his family he already F'ed Up the main objective of protecting his family.

That is exactly what I was thinking. These politicians throw billions around like it confetti. Just which politicians friends or families pockets are these extra $6B going to go?

Look at how mass quarantine has worked in China. It hasn't.

Why do you expect things to be any different here? Do you think the general public will go along with mass government mandated quarantines? If people resist such a quarantine, what do you think should happen to them?

It’s not just greed. If the gas’s fields and pipelines shut down your lights will go out. While coal fired an nuclear plants have onsite storage for several days weeks or months, the NG fires units do not, other than a few will some oil reserves.
This is only one example of the businesses that would need to stay open.

There obviously is no way of knowing if the situation would be 10 times worse in China had they not taken the steps they did.
I'm not the defender of China. I have no idea what they have done and not done. I'm certain there would be some things I agree with and some with which I would disagree.

This whole debate (at least with me) started when the people on the return flight from China were placed under quarantine by the US. I felt then and now that it was the appropriate call.
What do you think they should have done with the people returning on that flight?

It's not the .govs job to protect us from irresponsible people. If that was the case there would be no crime.
