To Protect and to Serve II

I’ll call out when an officer obviously does something illegal or wrong and have done so in this thread. However this isn’t one of those times chief. You simply once again don’t understand the law if you don’t see what the bikers did. Chattanooga State Community College probably has some law classes for you to sign up for. Maybe then you can have a better understanding without having emotional knee jerk reactions
So you would have thrown them in jail?

Let’s see. I studied law and graduated from an actual top university. Then competed a 4 month academy modeled after the FBI and then continue to do inservice for every year for 22 years on top of regular training and I’ve helped revise a TCA code for the state of TN. So yea, I’d go out on a limb and say I know more about the law then someone who went to a CC and didn’t study it. Just saying
Really, it's not so much about "the law" as it is about 'what is just" or "what is right".

This was probably legal, but it wasn't "just" or "right".

I know we’ve discussed this before and it’s fallen on deaf ears but I don’t think any of the regulars in thread who are critical of law enforcement are liberal. At a minimum I know a good portion of us aren’t.

what is troubling about this story is the cops refusal to accept the labs finding that it was donut glaze.

This war on drugs and terrorism will be the death of this country.

And keep in mind, kiddies… this isn't a black or white issue. These are good law abiding white folks getting caught up in this police state. Worthless cops like this are no friend to the civilians. They are enemies of humanity.

Only thing I wish they trained you guys on is the 4th Amendment.

This guys grandkids and great grandkids should be set for life. Should have got a lot more than $30 something thousand. Should have sued the cop, Police Department, The City and the manufacturer of that test kit.

The fact that his record hasn't been expunged is a disgrace!

This is why you rely on training, experience, and actual law and not plastic tests and hope with no other evidence....I've never in my life used one of those tests...you make your case with evidence and probable cause and witnesses and statements and take the drugs to TBI to let them test it in a lab....has never failed me!

After job is eliminated, police chief strips down to underwear and walks home in snowstorm
Richard Lee was relieved of his duties as police chief of Croydon, New Hampshire, Tuesday night after a three-member board voted to eliminate the one-man department.

After serving the town as police chief part-time for 20 years, Lee was told to immediately turn in the keys to his cruiser as well as his gun and uniform. He went into an office he shared with town officials and began stripping down.

Lee said that if he had left with his gear, he didn't want to face the possibility of being arrested. According to The Valley News, Lee and the selectboard have had moments of tension in the past, including when voters shut down a proposal from Lee to increase his salary by 43%.

Well first off, who was going to arrest him? Secondly, if they were going to arrest him for having his gear, they could have just as easily arrested him for indecent exposure without his gear and clothing and put his dumb azz on the sex offender registry as a cherry on top. Lastly, he's the only Barney Fife in town and he wanted a 43% raise? Where do they do that at?

We don't know what his pay was. Maybe they paid him $2000/year and he thought $3000 was appropriate.

His salary was $30,500 as a part time employee. And 80% of calls are handled by the state police.
Well maybe he was a super cop. I mean if he was able to strip down to his underwear and walk home that counts for something. If he'd stopped at a bar on the way home that would have been even more impressive.

This is from 2017 but I just learned about it today. Sickening

I will say it again. This society attracts the wrong types of people (no matter the race, gender or religion) to these law enforcement jobs. These people more than likely have a desire to bark orders and use whatever aggressive means at their disposal, including lethal force, to make sure us pesky civilians march the line and respect their authority.

I'm leaning more and more towards officers not receiving their weapons until 3 years on the force. That might weed out the trigger happy Tackleberrys in the ranks and actually leave those that want to serve and protect.
