Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

Oh he's a nut job sure and perfect for UT!...I really hope he is our guy as I think he would be good for UT and would certainly keep us all entertained...Do not let his mild demeaner fool you tho, He is a tough as nails football coach and doesn't mes around...His offense is exciting and would really confuse a lot of defenses here in the SEC as it is built around speed...His defenses are nothing to laugh at either...Lets keep our fingers crossed that he's our man.

Why are people on here pumped up over coaches who for the first time in their career have their teams winning or ranked?. Heck Fulmer had winning seasons, we need to examine the new HC body of work over several seasons and get a coach with a more proven track record. We do not need some Johnny come lately coach we need a proven coach who will be a step up for our program. And as far as people getting excited over Lane Kiffin "give me a friggin break" the only thing he is proven at is failure and skating by on his dad's coat tails! His lil stint in the NFL will not impress recruits with the losing record he had.

You don't keep up with football much do you?

Wow, you really don't watch much football do You :ermm: Pass on ALL 3 ehh?...Reasons?

As I stated earlier Kiffin got where he is because of his father not on what he has earned. He is a loser and no one will hire him unless he brings his dad.

Gary Patterson has never been associated with a big time school or coached against big time schools on a regular basis. He has only had tenure at TCU everywhere he has been was for 1 or 2 yrs only. Don't believe me check him out here: Gary Patterson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mike Leach has more experience then Patterson but he also he moved around alot until he arrived where he is now. I do like his offense but I feel his philosphy is the same as it was we he was at KY and that is score more then your opponent can. In the SEC that did not work out well for KY when he was there.

Leach in contract talks

Texas Tech will renegotiate Coach Mike Leach's contract when the college football team's regular season concludes on Nov. 29.

"We'll certainly extend Mike's contract when the season ends, it's never been a question," Athletic Director Gerald Myers said. "He's our coach and we want him to remain our coach. We'll reward him for what he's done."

Leach, who is in the third year of a five-year deal, can buy out his contract for $500,000. The 47-year-old coach is paid a base salary of $300,000 and his contract also guarantees $1.45 million in outside income.
Could be our go-to-guy.

Oh yeah...We offer him a 2-3 million dollar deal and he'll fly that coop so fast they wouldn't have time to shake the sand out of thier shirts lol

Now if We can only get the Pride of the Southland band to learn some pirate tunes..We'll be in good shape!....Can't you just picture the VOL Navy with all the pirate flags flying every saturday? :-D

here is something to ponder. Kiffin has no buyout! That being said either candidate excites me. i like Leach too

Mike Leach should be at the top of the list:
Under 50 years old.
Success as a head coach at a bcs school and big time conference.
Has had success in the SEC as offensive coordinator at Ky.
His style of football is exiting to watch.
Reasonable buyout.
We can easily give him a big raise and not give away the store.

A lot of the other candidates mentioned don't have consistant winning records like Mike Leach or for that matter Phillip Fulmer.

I think Leach is an excellent coach, my only concern is why would he leave a school that is for sure going to give him a substantial raise and where the pressure is VERY minimal. He has no ties to our school that I know of. I just don't see him coming here, I could be wrong.
