2020 SOTU Speech Thread

That’s subsidized for many too. At least I get to benefit from some of my tax dollars at the grocery store.

So you're saying that you approve of this redistribution of your tax dollars to private businesses and individuals but not others. Well stated, the motherland agrees, comrade.

I don't disagree, chief. I'm just pointing out how people like you aren't saying a damn thing while Trump engages in it.

Your personal shots are amusing.
How is Trump engaging in socialism? There was no personal shot, it is just the truth. Most, not all. I said most, want to lay around on the couch and do nothing. That isn’t the American way, if you’re able to work, then go to work.

Infrastructure is a sound investment by our government. It isn't simply a handout when the expenditures are returned many times over.

So you're saying that when private entity's fail to take care of things, it's the .gov's responsibility? I've been told that the scariest words on the planet are "I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

Sorry, it's a hard no for my tax dollars go to support porn hub and netflix access to Aunt Bee, who's chosen to live in BFE.

redistribution of nations tax dollars to support a small industry incapable of supporting itself? It's capitalism, if they need to charge more, they should do so. Sink or swim.

Like all welfare it’s almost impossible to stop once it’s started. This has been going on for almost 100 years much like many government funded programs. If you want in on it become a farmer.

$28 billion?

You people lost your collective minds over Solyndras $535 million.

Handouts are handouts, watching the intellectual gymnastics to contort around that inescapable fact amuses me.

I don't want in on it and we're not talking about the subsidies, what I'm referencing is Trumps $28B pledge to prop up his heartland voter base the farmers.

Extending high speed internet to isolated farming communities is extremely important. Those essential contributors to society shouldn't be kept off of the information grid because there isn't a profit to be made to include them. THAT is a sound example where a government led stimulus works. The fact that you believe the reason for connecting all communities is to deliver porn says a lot about your thought process.

Nobody eats solar panels. But hey I'm fine with cutting all those subsidies. It's all them poor folks that will suffer.

FInd a better crusade.

Uh...hey Democrats...I've been around a while. I've seen LG go apoplectic with rage at other speeches and troll this board...HARD!
If I was y'all, his reply to this SOTU would make me very concerned about the 2020 election.
Has he replied?

Farming is more than an industry. It's essential to sustain human life. It's vastly different than subsidizing crooked solar panel producers.
If the government is subsidizing beef cattle we're getting ripped off. I bought a couple of packs of ribeyes at the grocery store prior to the superbowl and they were $16.99 a pound !!!! Yikes.

It works for Paul, the beneficiary of the stimulus. It doesn’t work so well for Peter, who gets the bill.

Statistically speaking, porn and netflix rule the bandwidth. The government isn't in the business to supply internet, never has been - nor should it be. The private market could do so more efficiently and at a lower cost - if it makes financial sense. You're proposing using everyone's tax dollars to help prop up something that not everyone wants or needs (like a border wall). Satellite broadband (hughes Net)is already available and Elon Musk is already deploying satellites to help shore up dead spots across the globe, private enterprise fulfilling private needs.

The backbone of the internet is built along the government owned right-of-ways. They do in fact enable connecting everyone.
