If we lose this guy (which we probably will), it won't bother me one iota. I think he's a prima donna and a potential locker room nightmare that we just don't need. Go for someone else ( almost anyone).

The number of players drafted in the first three rounds by school is listed below. Alabama is the only one of the schools that hit 5 in most of the years (4 out of 5). UGA did it only once, UF only once, LSU only once, and AU did not hit 5 during the last five years. TN did not hit 5 in any of the years either.

AP was pretty confident about a recruit who will go nameless up until he didn't pick UT. Not saying he's wrong about Evans, but this recruitment is strange. With that said, I really hope Evans is a Vol and finds the stability it seems that he needs at UT.

While I know they aren't all choir boys I believe an underrated part of Pruitt's recruits in the first 3 classes is how so many are mature 18-22 year olds. There are obviously some more than others, but it's almost as if Pruitt takes 1 or 2 'riskier' prospects maturity wise per class as he believes the majority of the class will be leaders, positive examples, decent studies, etc. and can influence and help steer any who might need it.

No it isn't..a strong team can absorb a very few, but one too many bad apples can destroy a program to it's foundations.


To be clear...I am not saying Zach is a bad apple or has bad character..I am just commenting on the post I quoted saying character is overrated...I think that is very badly wrong. I think this kid is just an odd duck and for some reason has an adversarial attitude towards coaches in general which colors everything he does.

I think he’s had a bad experience with a coach at some point or another. It only takes once. I think it’s overblown about his issues, myself. I bet he’s actually a great kid, just misunderstood. But the best thing for him would Coach Pruitt. He molds these players into great young men. Look what a relationship he’s built with many of them on this current team, outgoing players, plus former players. Derrick Henry, whom he helped recruit to Bama, absolutely loves him like family. A lot to be said for that, IMO.

I would worry about locker rooms nightmares if we had somebody like Butch running things. I think Pruitt can handle situations like that much better

I also used to recruit the Houston area ten years ago, but from that network ive heard nothing that he hasn't already made public.
He wears his emotions on his sleeve.

I apologize for singling you out as the only one speculating on this kids emotional stability. You're definitely not the only one doing it. I just have a problem with people speculating and stating opinion (based on message board gossip for the most part) as fact, especially when it involves something as serious as a kids mental makeup/stability.

I fully realize this is a message board and that's what some do but, it does not make it right. Is it an odd recruitment? Definitely. Other than that, it would be nice if we could refrain from uneducated psychoanalysis of recruits.

Again, my apologies for singling you out. You and I are good as far as I'm concerned. I guess I had just reached a tipping point with the comments about this kid.

Most people realize that it's not totally up to the staff. There are two parties involved, staff and recruit/family. No matter what the staff does, for whatever reason, sometimes a recruit just likes another situation better. This recruitment is a strange one and there's no telling how this will end up. So if he doesn't come here I definitely wouldn't jump to the conclusion that our staff somehow "dropped the ball"...

This kid in particular is extremely unpredictable, he may end enrolling somewhere like Southern Miss or Kansas State in June for all we know.

Crap well thanks for pulling the actual stats... haha I didn’t feel like going to get it, but it felt right. We still aren’t viewed as a stable option for the NFL route. This is certainly going to improve under Pruitt though... hopefully starting with Evans
