'20 TX RB Zachary Evans

I had passed on what are perceived as character issues. But when he does not show up for visits and blows our coaches appointments off is him trying to show our staff who is boss. No player is worth that. Football is a team sport and this kind of behavior will alienate teammates and staff.
How did he blow our coaches off? I thought he just took an official visit and enjoyed it. We're still talking about Zach, right?

If that’s the narrative you want to believe, you do you. We’re living in 2020 man. I’m not gonna question your choices. You live your best life

I mean I would hope any UT fan would be concerned about being out recruited by Ole Miss. They ain't exactly Alabama, LSU, or Auburn.

If he ends up coming here i would ask someone like Crouch to help guide him or just be there for him. He seems like an extremely strong charactered guy, always in a good mood and is all about his team. He could probably relate to Evans well too since they were/are both top RBs in their class (until Crouch (RB/ATH) got dropped 45 spots 🙄).

There is PLENTY out there about his emotional state. Just read his interviews.
Read what Buck said about him too.

You don't have to have a face to face heart to heart with the kid. He's hurting and he's confused about everything...

Recruiting process is hard enough as it is. Then this kid has different disposition plus his heart is still broken about his grandfather.

Backpedaling a little there. Definitely softening your original stance. Bottom line, went from nowhere with this kid to being a final 2-3 choice/destination for him. Staff did great job gaining his interest, let’s see if they can close the deal and get him to Knoxville. They certainly don’t deserve derision and getting bashed if he goes elsewhere imo.

I haven't softened form anything. I said if the staff can't sell our oline (which should be one of the top in the country) to a RB, that's a total failure. And it is. But the funny thing is, I don't think that's gonna happen. I believe that this staff gets it done and we land Evans. That's the halarious part in all of this.

What an idiot.

What's idiocy, is a mob mentality of "positivity" that you all look like complete irrational human beings. Like dude. Not getting a recruit is A FAILURE. Wake the hell up. It's all fine and dandy to praise a staff for getting interest from recruits but at the end of the day you gotta land them.
And they have landed some really great players but they need more.

The funny thing is everybody on that staff would tell you the exact same thing. People take **** outta context like a bunch on teenage girls on here. They assume just because I bring up the possibility of the staff not landing him, I want it to happen or think it'll happen. At the end of the day, we all want Vols to be the best. Calm your tits.

I'm weird thinking it's odd to be out recruited by Ole Miss? Lol

Yes. If our staff does everything it possibly can to get Evans yet he goes to OM, how is that a failure by them?

You do realize that sometimes recruits go wherever they want right? So was it a failure by ED O when Jarret went to Maryland?

You're overthinking it and not understanding what failure means. Failure isn't always a negative thing. Everyone does and honestly needs to fail at life to learn and grow. People every day "give their best" and still fail to reach goals or accomplish things. Doesn't mean they suck or are horrible , it's all about what they go from there. But in this particular business, you have to learn from your failures quickly. Yes there are some kids that just aren't coming here, but when you're at a program like UT and it's coming down to the wire, ya gotta make the finishing move more times than not to land him. That's all there is to it.

The fact you think that missing out on a kid - who literally wasn’t on our radar until 2 weeks ago - would be a “failure” shows a level of ignorance about recruiting that can only be described as “idiocy.” Sorry not sorry.
