Clay Webb was a 5* C so he could slide in if they don’t like Hill. Van Pran could also be coming in. Again, UGA’s offense was bad last year. Losing parts of a bad offense and the OC could end up helping UGA. Swift and the lineman hurt, but the rest didn’t perform. Fromm was mediocre and Coley was worse than mediocre. LSU’s offense skyrocketed with a scheme change. I don’t expect it to be that drastic, but I definitely expect more than the 150 passing yards per game that Fromm gave. A better passing threat will open up the run game. UGA scored more than 30 points on one SEC defense all year... that’s awful given the talent available.

Either way, just my opinion. I could just as easily see the issues you brought up. thanks for the discussion and my apologies for the other UGA fans trolling the board.

Ironically that was on the Vols defense that guys like @Smokeyone are touting as all world.

UGA had Cager for that game and UT’s defense was much better at the end of the year than beginning. Had UGA not gone conservative against Vandy and UF they could’ve easily broken 30 in those.

Neither Kirby, Pruitt, or any good coach gives a tug about stars. Stars are purely for fan consumption and to sell subscriptions. The stars allow fans with a little knowledge of talent evaluation to feel like they know something. Talent evaluation and development are job one as a coach. In my mind Kirby chose the least talented of the 3 qbs he had on the roster.

Webb and VPG are both summer enrollees. That's asking alot of a true freshman to be ready to play center in the SEC while implementing a new system. That's the crux of it. Expecting so many new parts to click from day one is just asking too much. And for some reason the average UGA fan is just too stupid to acknowledge it. LSU was 2 years in the making, not 1 summer in the making. UGA couldn't even get a 3 year starter at QB on the same page with a crop of 5* WRs in a year.

Webb will be a redshirt freshman next year. The only 5* WR Fromm had was Pickens, so not sure where you’re getting crop from. In fact, Pickens was UGA’s first 5* WR since AJ Green. UGA WR’s were awful last year outside of Cager and Pickens. Most ppl could see they were part of the issue. While Burrow was at LSU 2 years, Brady was there one year and that was LSU’s first year running that system. So it would appear one off season worked fine for them. Not sure if you’re just looking for an argument or what, but I never said UGA’s offense would be hitting 50 a game. Just that they’d improve from last years 30 a game, which isn’t really that difficult.

born hahaha unlike in 1980 you know a difference of 18 years. I was 17when UT won theirs, so much nicer to actually be alive when my team last won a Natty instead of just a twinkle in my parents eye. How is that Vandy trophy case working for UGA and Smart?

Ok well let’s see one is 40 years away while the other is 1998 22 years. Heck some of these recruits parents weren’t even alive last time UGA won a Natty, how many years before were they even allowing freshman to play. So yes it’s a good argument because those idiots down in UGA have done less with more than ANY team in the country! A top 5 State in the country producing D1 talent and has been going on 25 years and within that time every other state that is in the top 4 with talent has won a Natty( Texas, Florida, USC) all have won a Natty since UGA has. And yes if UT hadn’t won one since 1951 they could make fun of UT also, but guess what they can’t. I mean seriously before 1980 UGA won the 1942 Natty. Pretty sad state of terrible coaches down there for the dogs, thank god they didn’t hire Saban or Meyer or this wouldn’t be the conversation of them always being the bridesmaid and never the bride.

Robertson was a 5*, Pickens was a 5*, Blaylock was .003 from being a 5*. The rest were 4*.
Yes Brady was there 1 year but the pieces he used had worked together for at least a year and the only aspect that changed was the system. UGA is do that with a significant drop off at OC, 9 new starters, a QB that will have his first organized practice this spring, likely multiple freshman on the Oline, WRs that a 3 year starter couldn't work with, RB that hasnt played much in 2 years, and a coach that has a history of wanting an ultra conservative O.

Not exactly apples to apples comparison.

The various UGA forums are fun to read right now. They are too stupid to see that replaces 9 starters, 8 in the 2 deep, new QB that hasn't had an organized practice, new OC that didn't call plays last year, new O staff that hasnt worked together, and a head coach that gets nervous and wants to go conservative on O, means that they will be the next LSU next year. Talk about ignorance and no understanding of reality. They sound like the girlfriend/wife with no idea but trying to be a good fan.

I feel bad for them actually. As a breed UGA fans are mentally fragile to begin with and reality is not going to be kind to them.

Nothing in CFB will ever be apples to apples given no two teams are the same. The similarities still are there given new OC’s and changes in offense philosophy. Like I’ve said, I don’t expect LSU numbers. Just an improvement from 30 a game, which is easily doable given UGA’s talent.

But the other 4 QBs in the QB room have. HB isnt expected to start on day 1. And if he does? The OC and his system are in place, the Oline returns intact, all 3 RBs return, the staff has worked together, HB is an early enrollee going into an intact system. Again you miss the point. Tweeking a system vs wholesale change/rebuild.



@moderators is this going to be a Tennessee board again? I miss that.

Georgia’s defense will keep them in games. Defense will do that. Our defense kept us in games this year when offense was struggling. Do you think Ga would take JG?? I don’t know about that
