Hey, just jumping in here, haven't been keeping up. So....

Anybody given any thought as to whether we should have just punted there in the 4th instead of lining up to go for it?

What do you think our percentages were? I'll take fractions.

Let’s try this math again.

Going for it:

We get stopped 1/4 times imo. Then they score a FG at worst 1/2 times after that

That’s 1/4 x 1/2 or 1/8 which is 13%

If we punt them deep
They score a FG less than 13% which was my point
Fwiw we were 2 for 12 this year on 4th downs. Now, some may have been goal line. Some more than 1 yard. But our prior 4th down failures don't seem to bode well for us pulling it off last night.

Unless it worked...then it’s genius. Same thing with going for it instead of taking the points at the beginning of the game. Remember Butch taking heat for not going for the TD against Oklahoma on the 1. It’s always about what you didn’t do. Except in this case when it’s uncertain what they were going to do and we’re revisionist second guessing.
Exactly....everyone loved Payton’s onside kick in the Super Bowl to start the second half....what if that failed. He would have been lambasted for it.

True. Maybe that 3/4 success rate I said was too high

Speaking of the nfl

I heard it mentioned that the surprise on sides kick will likely never be tried again because of rules

What rule change is it?
