2020 qb comparison/talk/debate (merged)

Joe Burrow has 7 touchdown passes in 1 half of football against Oklahoma.

Guarantano had 12 total td passes in the entire 2018 season. He has 16 in 2019.

How is that even possible? And before all of you start touting all of JG tremendous numbers this offseason, remember this stat, the one that counts.

Really, this is the best you can come up with ?

So did we have a chance to get Joe Burrow? Did he want to come to Tennessee and we told him "no thanks"? If not, I don't get the point of this thread.

Yes Burrow has the pocket awareness, the arm talent, the legs to get timely 1st downs... But more importantly he has 5 nfl receivers and a offensive system that spreads you out so you cant shrink the field.

Ridiculous comparison. JG is a mediocre QB Burrow is a number one draft pick Heisman winner
Im comparing qb to qb. You all act like im comparing Burrow to a damn crocodile or something.

All i heard all offseason is how all his stats point to him being a winner, and now its off limits to point out this remarkable stat???

During the 2008 season the patriots missed Brady the whole season, they still finished 11-5, during the 2011 season the colts missed Manning the whole season, and they finished 2-14. Pretty eye opening I would say.
Of all the asinine things people say to try to discredit Brady, this is right at the top of the list. Because anyone who makes this risible argument is conveniently neglecting the minor detail that the Pats went 18-1 the previous season with Brady.

Please proceed to explain how a seven-game dropoff in wins is not appreciable, or doesn't show the vast gulf between Brady and Matt Cassel.

Also, Manning had not one but two HOF receivers simultaneously for most of his years with the Colts. And for much of that time he also had a HOF running back. Go ahead and list even one year out of the nineteen Brady has quarterbacked the Patriots where he had that much offensive talent, or even close, to work with. I'll wait.

What if Burrow was here, in our system, with our wide receivers? 16?

This is the point of the thread. Dont talk about it if you dont want. Its tough to swallow.

JG isn't the best qb in the country. He also won't ever win the heisman

Congrats you broke the code. Amazing

If they were won straight up I don’t think there could be ANY questions whatsoever. However because they were not won honestly I personally don’t recognize the Patriots as 6 time SB champs. I don’t recognize Brady as the best and truth is I’m not sure who could. One thing I can say is if my son or daughter brought home an A on a major test but I seen the answers written on their hand when I went to congratulate them, that would be a time for discipline, not praise. So until I learn to be the opposite of honest I can’t honestly give Brady or Belicheck any credit.
This is several levels beyond dishonest. Not a few but most everyone these days among both former NFL players and coaches, and sportswriters and commentators agree that Brady is the best quarterback to ever play. Many go further and state unequivocally that he's the best football player ever, period.

A short but definitely not exhaustive list of such people who call him the greatest: Steve Young, Jim Kelly, Deion Sanders, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger, Troy Aikman, Kurt Warner, Roger Staubach, John Elway.

Also, Deflategate was ridiculed by numerous scientists across the country; no one with half a brain took those allegations seriously; it was nothing more than the 31 other owners' way to get back at the Patriots for winning too much.

Citing Spygate as reason to discredit the Patriots is either outlandishly ignorant or willfully dishonest. If you bothered to do even five minutes' worth of research you would find that it's legal to tape signals from certain parts of the stadium; you'd also find that numerous other teams, much more recently than the Pats, have been caught doing much worse, and somehow none of those stories ever gets played up in the media because those teams don't win like the Pats do.

Your beloved Colts have cheated much more consistently and brazenly than the Pats - they just got away with it because they only won one Super Bowl rather than six. None other than Deion Sanders publicly called them out for stealing signals for years - not one game as the Pats were accused of, but systematically for years - on national TV. And then the pious Tony Dungy tried to explain that stealing signals was an old tradition dating to the nineteenth century in baseball - he didn't even attempt to deny that his team had done it:

I really wish both OSU and Clemson could lose tonight. I despise both of them. But since OSU ran Burrow off, I like to see him take them down for it all.
I kinda like Dabo for his success over saban. even embarrassed him in one win. My money is on him to win it all. Master of the schemers.

Back in August I recall stating the Guarantino would be a pretty good QB for us, and that Lsu also had a good QB In Burrow. I got chastised by some member who stated that Burrow couldn't play a lick. (Paraphrased) I just wonder now------------------Go Tigahs; the 2019 National Champs.

I wasn't involved in the original conversation; however, you called it -so far as Burrow is concerned, a NATY and a Heisman!
