The Impeachment Thread

Geez. Biden's long lost sister. That is what Dems rally behind. If that were any more coherent...

"Blah, blah, blah - can't we talk about something other than impeachment"
"The one that's been going on for 2.5 years, btw."

I need to update my comment. Moscow Mitch did allow $250 million in funding, but blocked bipartisan calls for more.

McConnell, Decried As 'Moscow Mitch,' Approves Election Security Money

One thing that I do not understand that he did block was the requirement that each electronic vote be tied to a paper ballot, as well.

I would think everybody supports that provision, and probably the others as well. They should, anyway.

Pretty much everything in the article made sense; I'll agree with you about that. What it didn't include (or at least the article made no mention) was the other part ... cleaning up the voter registration process and ensuring that the people who vote are supposed to be voting in the first place. This seems a lot like doing all kinds of things (bureaucratically) to improve the quality of a drivers license without doing anything to keep unlicensed drivers (safety hazard) off the street in the first place.

If we really want to secure our election systems from hackers, don't you think isolating the systems, software development, and reporting systems totally from intrusion by hackers would be the place to begin? Like perhaps if we put that much emphasis on having a matching paper ballot, then we should simply go back to paper ballots. But then that gets to the argument that Mitch made about Washington dictating how localities do elections. You know there's an undercurrent of support for electronic voting from personal devices without having to do that labor intensive thing in going to the polls - that should tell you all you need to know about how little real thought many people give election security.

It's strategy and a brilliant one at that. Trump was attempting to block everything and trying to force everything to be hashed out in the courts to ultimately delay impeachment for as long as humanly possible. Now Trump has the permanent stain of being impeached and if Pelosi so chooses she could still take everything to court and the Senate can't acquit. . Impeachment can't be undone.

I try to be impartial as I can be but how is it a stain on anything?
