The Impeachment Thread

I wanted to ad that I never play golf anymore, but I practice fairly often. I had only played about 63 ? holes in the last 6 or 7 years, I think. I went to Carrabelle and played St. James Bay www.stjamesbay.com , which winds through a nature preserve with a lot of water and wetlands.

When I read reviews of the course, it said to bring a lot of golf balls, because if you miss a fairway, you probably don't want to go looking.....alligators and such. Well, I only had time to play 9 holes, and haven't actually played a hole in about 2 years. After 8 holes, I had 7 pars and a 3 putt double bogey, and had not missed a fairway, so was still playing with the same golf ball. I'm feeling good going to number 9.

Number 9 is a dogleg right par 4 with water all the way down the right side and out of bounds wetlands and scrub palmetto fans left. I think I made about a 14 or 15 , after hitting 3 in the water, and 2 or 3 more through the dogleg and in the scrub. So much for that.

You're old enough to know to not let a little white ball spoil a perfectly good walk in the woods.

He will pick up black support. Don't know how much, but he will see gains.
That is what some Republicans like to think... and they are always wrong. They try to suppress the black vote for a reason. When districts are gerrymandered, it is always with race in mind. Republicans don't like it when blacks vote... because they don't vote Republican.

I will say this, if Trump remains on the issue of restricting government assistance and food stamps? You don't know how wrong you are. He won't pick up jack $hit among the black vote. That is cold, hard reality.

We shall see. The best way to suppress the black vote next time is for you all to nominate the little mayor.

Ahh the old blacks, government assistance and food stamps and democratic party to the rescue. Exhibit A.

It is when you’re unemployed and broke. That is unless you’re lazy, dishonest, work the system, and vote dim.
Look at trend lines. Is it really trump? On top of that aren’t you using the same numbers Obama touted, and was attacked for, but now find good? So Obama’s numbers lies. Trumps true? Seems odd.

@BowlBrother85 I'm going to be honest. I am criticizing you but I like you as a poster. I think you are a good person. I give you likes on the sports boards. I think your heart is in the right place. I call out conservatives/Republicans on the board that make broad generalizations about a race of people but I try not to get offended about everything because people are entitled to be ignorant, wrong and racists if they want as long as it doesn't infringe on someone else's rights. It's the beauty of America and the truths of life and the human race.

Racism is not owned by a party. If you understand that then you vote based on self interests. Those self interests are up to you and can be greater than your own or it can be what you believe is good for the country. That allowed me to penetrate the almost impenetrable shield of self biases and introspection. I allowed myself to have a clean slate on my beliefs.

I am still a registered democrat but "identify" as an independent. It allows me to have hope that I will see in the democratic party what I used to see and I could cross back over and vote democrat which I have done some of the time in local elections for various reasons. But the more I hear from progressives/liberals/Democrats the more I realize what a sham the party really is and it is moving me further right. I don't see it changing based on what I see today and I like what I see from the conservative base.

You're right though, as condescending as you are, blacks will not start voting for Republicans in large numbers. But if there is even a shift 5% - 10% it is over for the Democrats and I think it's possible. That may be because I have more confidence in the black voters becoming less hynotized by failed ideas.

This is a fair post.

I thought they were rushing it? Make up your minds.

It's strategy and a brilliant one at that. Trump was attempting to block everything and trying to force everything to be hashed out in the courts to ultimately delay impeachment for as long as humanly possible. Now Trump has the permanent stain of being impeached and if Pelosi so chooses she could still take everything to court and the Senate can't acquit. . Impeachment can't be undone.

There is a permanent stain alright. On the Democrat party for the only totally partisan vote for impeachment in the history of this country.

Couldn't move the ball one inch without over whelming proof of an impeachable offense and that's what you get.

So when y'all going to impeach him again, after he's re-elected?

Question about Trump's potential 2nd term:

So in my view, their are exactly two things that motivate Trump: Money and Power. Everything else is noise. IMO he never expected to win the presidency, rather he viewed it as an incredible marketing tool to promote himself. And, yet, here we are... debating what may happen if he wins again next November.

Given term limits and his age, Trump would no longer be constrained by having to please ANYONE if he were elected again. So, the kiddie gloves would come off. Add to this the fact that the Congress (i.e. Senate) will have given him a green light allowing blatant self-dealing. The result: a new type of president we've never seen. One that uses the office effectively to enrich himself. And, why not? He's already told us all back in January, 2016 that his supporters wouldn't care if he shot someone on 5th Avenue. TRUMP IS A BUSINESSMAN, PURE AND SIMPLE. What motivates businessmen? Money and power. He could care less about stupid policy, NATO, global warming, Mexican cartels.

2021-25 Example: Trump tells his emissaries to approach a foreign country, say, Italy. Italy is told that it has an option: License Trump's businesses for a huge casino in the Italian city of his choice, or America will slap 100% tariffs on Italian wine imports.

You Trump supporters ready for this? You OK with Trump turning up his corruption to 11? I mean, it's not like he would face any consequences. And if you actually think he gives a flying rats a$$ about YOU or anyone other than someone named Trump? HA! You're dreaming.

I'm not offended by your skepticism at all. Do what makes sense for you.
But I don't find it dishonest in the least. I'll pretty much always believe that someone fighting a subpoena has something to hide.
I only bring up Obama and Clinton because they are your peeps.

Obama admin on fast and furious= fought subpoenas
Obama admin on IRS targeting= complied with subpoenas but plead the 5th
Obama admin on Solyndra= fought subpoenas
Clinton on emails and devices= Ig report says items and emails were destroyed.

Were they hiding something?

It is emblematic of what I've been talking about for awhile now. The election of Trump is the last death gasp of a Republican party that is just seething with racial and other resentments. The changing demographics of the country scare the crap out of them, and they voted for a guy who told then it was okay to hate.

That is how we have ended up with Trump. And it will spring up and kill the GOP as a political force in the years soon to come

Is it possible that those guys just represent the people of their districts? Would they do a better job if they still had the same beliefs but were a different age, color or gender?

You also believe in people "proving their innocence" Justice is not your strong suit.
