2020 Presidential Race

"Bernie Sanders endorsed a California congressional candidate Thursday with a long history of making crude and degrading comments about women and provocative statements about Jews, Muslims and other groups.
The Democratic presidential candidate said Cenk Uygur, founder and co-host of “The Young Turks” online talk show, is “a voice that we desperately need in Congress” to fill the seat of former Rep. Katie Hill of Santa Clarita."

Oh, I need some woke Twitter cancel culture right now.

Bernie Sanders endorses a Californian who defends crude sex ratings of women

LOL Cenks running for office . YIKES!

Hope I didn't seem like an ass, but I was trying to prove a point. If Pete's campaign had hired a guy with the kind of track record as dude that Bernie's campaign fired, would it be treated the same way on woke Twitter? Something tells me there would be no crickets for Pete like the Bern's campaign received.

I don’t think “Woke Twitter” cares about Pete’s staff or surrogates as much as him doing a 180 on Medicare for all and appearing as an obvious opportunist who ran to the right to further his political career. Not to mention his whole “unity” shtick while simultaneously attacking left policies.

“A long history of making degrading comments on women”, nonsense. Several of his female colleagues have went on to defend him from these obvious smear jobs. When you have a show for over 10 years there’s a lot of opportunity for people to cherry pick controversial statements and use it against you and turn it into an indictment on character. When he announced this was expected. For the record he’s apologized for all the occasional stupid **** he’s said a million times.

The reason the left dislikes Buttigieg is because of his policies, and his disingenuous arguments against left policies.

When was Buttigieg promoting M4A? I must have missed that.

Two things:

1) I'd say Pete is easily to the left of Obama, who was the most left POTUS since FDR.

2) Call it an attack, but there is no pathway for Elizabeth Warren or Bernie to enact Medicare for All. Discussions beyond that are akin to unicorn husbandry debates. To be fair,"Medicare for All who Want It" is not going to happen either. Getting Obamacare improvements alone would require a solid blue majority in the Senate. Many states still haven't approved the Medicare expansion in that law.

None of these policies are going to happen unless Congress gets a firm mandate to stop being clowns and start working across the aisle. Take a look around here: not going to happen.

The republicans and insurance industry will fight M4A or a public option to the end regardless, so why start closer to the center in the negotiation process? This was my biggest critique from Obama.

They have gone too far, too fast.
I think a lot of this is on Hillary, hear me out

The nomination was between Hillary who really doesn't have any principles and would have done/said anything to get elected and a full admitted socialist. She felt the need to try and get left of bernie. So now everyone running feels they need to line themselves with that group, which is now the base and they are all trying to out socialist each other.

Then you are completely wrong. Woke Twitter cares about everything Pete related. He's never done a 180 on MFA, he has a different way to approach full coverage. Yeah, he is running on trying to unite the left. Trust me, it is becoming increasingly more difficult with unfounded and ridiculous purity tests.

So he gets the benefit of the doubt, but Pete doesn't? Even when Pete doesn't have anything even remotely this disqualifying?

I don't find the logic behind that argument to withstand basic scrutiny.

There are no negotiations to be had with Mitch McConnell. And, even with a super-majority, you will have to negotiate something that Joe Manchin and John Tester will vote for.

Obama basically got Senators to vote themselves out of office to get the ACA, but left claims he could have gotten more by making it impossible for those same people to come to the table in the first place. What?

I admire the idealism, but we need one party at least to deal with reality, and I am pretty sure all that Warren and Sanders are really offering is a Trump landslide next November.

I hope I'm wrong.
