Get over it. JG will be the starter next season, and if his receivers can run routes, he'll do very well because he will manage the game and not turn the ball over, which is what Pruitt will value most. Mauer will be #2 to start the season. Barring injury, Bailey will ride the pine for all but 4 games, retaining his redshirt. If Mauer is not #2, you can look for him to transfer after spring practice or after next season. Bailey might beat out Mauer in 2021 but he won't displace JG in 2020.

Would never, ever, wanna sound like a passive-aggressive Georgia fan. So let me restate my position:

Florida has the best QB room in the SEC and everyone else’s QB’s suck ass in comparison.

And for what it’s worth, I’ve thought all along, even through some rough games, that JG was a pretty good QB and much better than the other two contenders on the roster.

JG plays horribly against Florida, for whatever reason, and that certainly doesn’t endear him to UT fans. He’s like the opposite of Jake Fromm, who plays like Drew Brees and Tom Brady rolled into one v Florida. But that aside, he has some tools.

I hate to burst your bubble but I could care less what services rank who and how high. Tee's not on there because they didn't do this stupid .9999 horse hockey back then.

Taking into account what HB has accomplished in HS vs the competition he played, his size, and skills he's easily the best HS QB we've recruited since Peyton I believe. JG was injured at critical times in HS, I've got no idea why Crompton was ever considered any good and I've admitted already that Bray and Clausen were indeed big time QB recruits. And I loved Dobbs, I always thought that he should have started day 1 but ol gym coach Jones decided to wait it out and throw him to the wolves vs Bama as a Freshman. I think it killed his development and set him back a full year. If you're going to start a Freshman at QB I think you should do it day 1 or later in the year because of injury to an experienced player or extremely bad play.

My Opinion:
1 will RS (HB), 1 will leave (either BM or JT), and we will be left with three pushing for minutes (JG, Hill, and either BM or JT).
Success will depend on our returning WR's & hopefully the Vols find an SEC quality TE.

Look up the name Josh Booty who was considered not just by a few to be a better high school QB than Manning. Hell, half of Vol nation thought Brandon Stewart was a better prospect as a freshman. I'm not dissing on Peyton as he was definitely a big time blue chip guy but he was not considered the best HS QB in the country that year, not unanimously anyway. I've got ZERO reason to make stuff up on a fan forum lol!!

:) Florida absolutely has a good to great college QB room, I'm just not that sold on Trask or Jones really, but both are good QBs I feel. Their new guy has a chance to be really good it looks like. Mullen makes Florida's QB room special I feel.

Assuming you meant josh booty. As John david booty was a freshman in 2003. And while yes he had a high rating in lemmings rankings many more felt manning would have the better career.

I really don't have an agenda other than to piss off NegaVols. I've always believed that they were a cancer to our program all the way back to Fulmer's firing. Most of those guys are just trolls out looking to make fun of people, they seldom have anything to input other than calling someone some middle school childish name. They call me stupid when they have nothing else to give to the conversation, I then call them simple minded in return. I usually look for the good in everybody but not the NegaVols.

Trask’s numbers, basically the third best QB in the SEC behind Tua and Burrow are very impressive, especially when you consider his first start was game 4. Then throw in the whole “hasn’t started since 9th grade thing” and it’s really freakishly good. So credit to him and as you said, major credit to Mullen who truly does look like a QB whisperer.

Having said all that Emory Jones and Richardson will by the guys to take Mullen’s offense to the next level. Part of UF’s running game woes this year was that defenses have absolutely zero concern for a Trask run, so they keyed on the RB. Even Franks was much more of a threat in the run game than Trask. It’ll be an interesting QB battle at UF in the spring and fall. I would not be shocked to see Emory emerge as the starter, or a more expanded role in the offense.

Unless it’s about Maurer? Haven’t you already been called out several times just TONIGHT? You are THE WORST hypocrite on this board. You'll no doubt disappear from here the day Maurer leaves, most handlers do when they've been figured out. You lost all credibility when you claimed he made throws in high school that all but 2 pro QBs can make!! That's some high praise there, he should have at least gotten a 4th star based on that alone!! You also lost all credibility when you all but claimed to know something you had no business mentioning. And I don't need credibility from a screen name, I've put what I do out there, I'm easy to find. I've got ZERO interest in what you think of my credibility, lol. I'm not perfect and never claimed to be, you on the other hand have some strange fascination with always trying to put someone down. I talk about the Vols and how I feel about certain situations, all you talk about is Maurer and how he's the next coming of Joe Montana and if someone doesn't agree with you then you call them an idiot.

I agree with all except for the running issues. I didn't think your OL played very physical this year, combine that with average RBs you get poor running game. Your WR unit this year definitely benefited Trask.

When it comes to you of coarse all I talk is Maurer because you constantly put things on this board about him that you clearly know nothing about. Otherwise I’d have no reason to comment on any of your posts. As for being a “handler” of Maurer.... once again.... you have no idea who I am, who I know, who knows me or my association with him. No disrespect but South Carolina has 5 prospects this year rated 4 star and above. They produce a ton of 3 stars but not much in blue chips. The level of play, strength and conditioning and coaching have been the shortcomings in South Carolina high school football for decades. Look up their top 25 players of all time and you'll hardly recognize many of them. As for debating you over every point you'd be surprised to know that I understand every point you are trying to make and agree a lot more than you think, I disagree with you when you continue to say a certain player will never get it done. I'm old school, and have coached a baseball team of some sorts nearly every summer since 87 (all at the youth level, mostly 19U Legion ball lately) and I'm certainly no expert but I've just never been able to give up on a player unless they give up on themselves 1st and certainly have never given up on a player that has worked as hard as he possibly can to get better, no matter how talented they are. I also have always believed in the older player with experience over a young learn as you go guy as I could never get over the mistakes a young player often makes that cost you games. I've never had a problem with a younger player over the veteran if it's clear cut he makes the team better. I've always said JG has deficiencies, I also have maintained he had bad coaching and a weak supporting cast his 1st 4 years and that both of those factors are a big reason for our pitiful record the last 3 seasons. As for Maurer, I've always said he had talent, he's athletic, he's got a good arm and I've even said he's got the FRAME to play the position, my knock on him, as most analysts I deal with was that he CURRENTLY lacked repetitions vs quality opponents and certainly not anything close to the speed of the SEC and that he currently lacked the size and strength to hold up to the pounding an SEC QB takes throughout the year. Because of my positions, which is really not that different from yours if you really break it down, you have in the past called me an idiot, a liar and a coward. That is why I have a problem with you and not the positions you take on the Vol football team.

And I wouldn’t count on it. The reason I joined this board has nothing to do with him. VN has some of the most football intelligent fans I’ve ever seen and I joined to talk to them. @sjt18 , @butchna(even though we don’t always get along he’s extremely intelligent), @LittleVol to name a few. Of coarse I knew there would be a few of you too but you gotta take the good with the bad on boards like these.
