It was coined to describe the behavior of bigots who physically assaulted and sometimes killed gay people simply because they disagreed with their sexuality. Call it fear, call it ignorance, call it whatever you want, but people were killed over their sexuality. Their lives were taken because some assholes couldn't handle it. It would be great if we never had need of the word, but unfortunately hate made it necessary.

I don't believe it is, but for one moment, let's pretend it is a mental illness. Who gets hurt? Two consenting adults living their lives, how does that bring harm to you or others? Do you want people dictating to you who you can and cannot love? I wouldn't think so, so why do you feel the need to do the same to others?

I have many times. They have been to my house. I have been to theirs. I have had some as employees, some as customers, and some as competitors. Two as pall bearers for my mother's funeral. I don't hate anybody for what they do in private. I just don't care to see it or hear about it.
