Posting it here because I put Orange Doofus on ignore and can’t see the thread anymore - but I sincerely hope the staff stops recruiting Hardy altogether.

I hate Clemson and Dabo, but I love Dabos kinda cavalier mindset of if you wanna be here then awesome, but if not then good luck.

If the story from Price is legit - then Hardy did the staff unnecessarily dirty. You made your bed, enjoy Auburn, where the coach lives on a perpetual hot seat.

Pruitt is going to turn Tennessee around. I don’t have a doubt about that in my mind at all. Let’s do it with guys who want to be Tennessee Volunteers.

And truth be told, I’m over Baron and Grimes too. Had the chance to be like Cooper and Keshawn and peer recruit all year. Take ownership of this class. But naw.... they’re looking for any excuse whatsoever not to come here. Whatever.

Quit being a baby. Maybe they don’t know for sure where they want to spend the next few years of their lives.

Looked up Harrison's participation numbers, looks like he isn't injured, but is not redshirting either. Has played in too many games :( Wish we could have.

Yep. And it remains to be seen if that’ll be good enough to kickstart recruiting the way we need it to do.

Getting to 6 wins after the start this season would be a really good coaching job, and I’m here to say it so that no one comes after me for being negative. BUT, in March next year, are we talking about how good the finish was or how bad the start was? How will we feel? How will recruits feel? That’s yet to be seen.

I think we all expected 6-8 wins this season so, on the whole, we should say Pruitt met expectations - although he took a bumpy road to get there.

I’d then expect 6-8 again next season, and like I said, whether he survives a 6 win season probably totally depends on when those wins come and how the losses look.
Before the season I was thinking 7-5. If somehow this staff gets this team to that record after the horrendous start I'll be very impressed. Up until this point it seems like they have done a solid job from a development standpoint. Still going to take a couple years of solid recruiting to get the level of depth we need to really compete.

I think RB will be good and WR will be decent. Palmer, Tillman, and keyton should be a solid trio. You’re right about pass rush and LB though. Rebuild isn’t going to be done until year 4 probably. We will see what they can do though.

The 2018 class got off to a hot start and I think 2021 will too. So long as we don’t fire Pruitt we will be fine
Losing a first round talent in Trey and Kennedy has been solid as a C. That will be tough.

On Jay Hardy –

I’ve never been completely sold on him coming to Tennessee. I think there was something back in the spring that suggested to me that it would be a pleasant surprise if he chose to come here. I was out of pocket today until around 1 PM but I read his whole thread starting after the announcement today. I’m not any smarter for having done that. There’s a lot of hearsay I guess from both sides.

I remember when Josh Malone in particular was being recruited, I think by us, Georgia, and Clemson. He said it was a business decision. Recruits and even players often say that one of the major factors that that feeds into their decision is doing what is best for their family.

I think we lost Rakim Jarrett because LSU was willing to do more for his family. I think, at this point, I’m inclined to think that today’s event suggests that Auburn was willing to do more for Jay’s family. The thing about it is Rakim and Jay and most of the kids, even if they’re 18 years old, I think their parent(s) have to sign their LOI. I don’t know where the age cut off is.

I saw this first hand many years ago when I was involved with AAU basketball. Some people want to cash in on their kids and if they can they do. It’s just the way it is and bitching about it ain’t going to change it.

I don’t think we have enough guys like AtlantaVol. I think our “recruiters” in the field don’t have enough or big enough bag$ to pull every kid we want. I think there’s a lot of evidence that both Rakim and Jay wanted to come to Tennessee but apparently we don’t have deep enough pockets to “take care of their families”. jmo.

There’s not a bidding war for every kid but for some I have no doubt the stakes are high. I don’t think this is on Jay and I don’t think it’s on the staff, at least not the ones on our payroll. I think we need to recruit more bagmen or at least bagmen with deeper pockets. Then we have to train them. The most important thing about being a bagman is knowing the rules of the game, and chief among those rules is learning how to keep your mouth shut, something that doesn’t naturally come easy for someone who has a bit of money. jmo.

One last point. In the last presidential election the favored candidate cancelled a planned election night celebratory fireworks display the weekend before the election. The writing was on the wall. They knew they were going to lose. Everything after that was damage control. I had this fleeting thought that with the commitment of the kid from Texas a couple days or so ago we probably knew that Auburn would make an offer our guys in the field couldn’t match. jmo.

We’ll probably get some guys this cycle but probably won’t be able to afford as many as we want or as many as we need. I’m appreciative of and respectful of the efforts our guys in the field are making but we probably need more of them. jmo.

it simply amazes me we haven't gotten any more traction on the DL in recruiting......i mean pretty much every big time player we've targeted has wound up somewhere else, save D. Bailey....

Eboigbe, Bogle, Ojulari, Hardy, Rogers........i mean all of those guys could start here pretty much right away.

i think Rocker has done a fantastic job at developing what we've got on the roster, but the recruiting can't be an absolute zero can it?

amazing. smh.
I think immediate playing time is losing luster as a recruiting tool. There’s so many players that are being drafted very high after only starting for a year or so.

Same thing in the NFL for QBs. You almost want to fall in the draft to a better team instead of going as early as possible
