Unconditional love

Sure, I can see that. I haven’t attended a game in years, due to living in Cali and then the last few years, tough to justify.

I just get tired of the “boycott Neyland” and “send a message with your wallet” stuff. I understand the reasoning, but I’m pretty sure that the players take it pretty personally. And I care a lot more about the players than I do the bean-counters in the AD. And I’m not a bit bothered by being called naive.

Of course, and I have no problem with people on either side of that argument. Go, don’t go, whatever. But you can’t just assume those who decide not to spend anymore don’t love Tennessee unconditionally. That’s silly.

Some fans have unconditional love for Tennessee. I am one of those fans.

We don't take personal responsibility for decisions the administration makes. We don't take responsibility for calls the coaches make. We have opinions, and gripes, and concerns of course. But we don't have grand delusions that anything we say or do will make a difference in, well, anything.

We just love the Vols. We love dressing in orange. We love attending games. We love cheering til we're hoarse, win or lose.

We are the fans that showed up, and showed out, Saturday night. We are the fans that the announcers talked about. We are the fans that Pruitt talked about. And we are the fans who are all over social media supporting the Vols.

So feel free to take your stand in what ever manner you feel you need to. Boycott the games. Call yourself a nega-vol, and wear it like some kind of badge. Quit buying the stuff. Stop going to games. Say whatever you need to say, wherever you need to say it.

But don't think less of us just because we love the Vols. Because I promise you.....Saturday night we felt ALL the feels. And you missed out.

GO VOLS!!!

My first game in two years, a great night to be back. :D

I posted this in the RF but I think it belongs in this thread too.
The last time I had saw a game in Neyland Stadium was 98 (UAB). I didn't remember that game being really loud or the stadium shaking or the feeling of electricity in the air. I do remember being told to sit down and be quiet and I hadn't really been interested in going back. I feel like we had became a spoiled fan base in late 90s and felt like we were entitled to wins.

My sons 1st TN game was yesterday and I wanted them to have an exciting experience like I had my 1st game (85 UCLA). Last night the stadium wasn't full, the pregame was a little quiet, USCjr hit that TD on the very 1st play, and the refs were throwing flags early. I thought I made a huge mistake, but I'll tell you, something awesome happened. What would have wrecked our fragile teams of the last 10 years didn't faze this VOLUNTEER team. They responded by scoring touchdowns, dominating special teams, and totally shutting down the gamecocks offense. They performed all 7 maxims to perfection. Last night it was loud, it was electric, and Neyland Stadium shook. VOL Nation has been starving for so long and it was fed in a big way last night. It was amazing to be apart of and my sons loved it. Pruitt is the coach we've been waiting on.

Why do you assume to know that people “missed out”? I dropped my family’s season tix, but I assure you we didn’t “miss out”. You beat your chest about how your love is unconditional and you were there Saturday and always wear orange but pretty much just come across sounding really arrogant and “true fanish”. I assure you me and my family and thousands of other vol fans at home missed out on nothing watching from home cheering and high fiving. No one watching Vols football after the last like 20 years has conditional love, that is just asinine to believe. Jump off the high horse, the true fan “ me and my diddy lubbed dem Vols” posts are so freaking corny.
Hahahahaha look at this ***

I've been a life long Vols fan and always will be. The only time I've been really down with the team was when they quit on the field. The past years has been difficult, but I always believed that we would be back. I'm happy to see that we may finally be turning the corner. I'm calling for us to win out and go to a bowl. I like how this team has improved week to week.

No I comprehended your post just fine. Problem was that it was just a hilariously illogical argument, quite elementary actually. And then I applied your logic to your own posts, and you responded exactly as I knew you would. When you turn to the old reading comprehension line before you tuck tail and retreat, you’ve lost. You hate to see it.

even after all your blabber . I do agree with you ..but IF you think Volly saying what she did applied to fans at home like us then you sir are "quite elementary"

puff your chest now if you like.

An up vote doesn't do justice.
Great post!
The same applies to every SEC fan base. I've come to realize that no one fan base is better than the next. The only difference really is the colors and the team name on the jersey. Except for FSU, you know "Free Shoes U."

I know what her post was saying, and it was stupid. That’s why I called it out.

I just found it interesting that you thought the OP was a challenge to your manhood/fandom. when all she was really saying is that the people boycotting games and not buying orange stuff missed a party.

But if it makes you feel better about your righteous indignation to defend the legions of the miserable.....by all means carry on.
My question would be, why is there any need to fo that? Aren't we all just supposed to enjoy the win? Why try to call out amy fan for whatever they believe? These types of threads always generate the exact same discussion, so why even do it?
Reminds me of that story I heard a while back. An old couple was watching a beautiful sunset when the old man noticed a teen looking at their phone instead enjoying the sunset. He began ranting to his wife about how the teen would rather look at his phone rather than enjoy the sunset. After a few minutes, the wife said " look at that old man right there that cant enjoy the sunset because of that teen looking at their phone.

Two sides of the same sword.
Why call out VolkyG. All she said was the #boycott crowd missed a party.

That's my point, why worry about what another person is missing out?

Why worry that she’s including that in a small part of her “I’m happy “ post.

If you don’t think you missed out then Good for you. She thinks you did. So what?
(You in the general not you specifically)

People constantly complain about negativity on the board and then create threads with a 100% certainty of creating negative discussion.
I dang sure didn't miss out saturday. Watched the first half at a wings place in Bham...had to watch the 2nd half on my tablet cause my hotel didn't have secn for some reason. Sipped some jack and then headed out to see Eric Church after the game. Got to high five a couple other vols fans that were there too.

I agree. If somebody busy patting themselves on the back and pointing out others really just enjoying the win?

Wonderful. Put your “real fan” claim on your resume. Pin a button on your chest. Whoopity doo!

Doesnt matter and I didnt take it personal, never do. The whole taking it personal is just a cast off for something folks dont want to discuss. If you (not you specifically) are going to complain about negative post, dont do things that are guaranteed to create negative discussion.
To be clear, im all for people doing whatever they want, nothing bothers me. Wanna boycott? Great. Wanna go to every game with your left hand painted pink? Great. Wanna scream you are the best fan? Great. Wanna bop your own players at home like "true fans" do? Not cool, but great. Do.you.
