It’s been mentioned in other threads, but I don’t see one dedicated to it. If we really care for our players, we should be making a little noise about this. Does anyone have any real credible evidence that he did not pass out cold?

I’ve seen the video - it’s all over twitter. Put the kid in Concussion Protocol. He’s our guy, and will be this year. It is easy to see how much life he brings to the program AND to see that he would be the last guy to put himself in the protocol. That’s why it is designed to be objective - to protect the player. One game in this heinous season is not worth the risk to his career and life-after-football.

-thoughts!?

First thought is how do we know he’s not in protocol? The coaching staff doesn’t have to tell us everything nor should they.

Wait are there talks of him having a head injury possibly?

All I saw and heard was potential wind knocked out and ribs. Oh brother
Just judging from the head hitting the turf, and the collapse on the sideline. No official word...just discussing precaution.

I remember watching when Chris Simms got hit in the left flank and went down. He stayed in a few plays for Tampa and then collapsed on the field. Turned out he had a severe laceration of the spleen and almost died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. By the time they got him to the OR he had lost quite a bit of blood. Crazy things happen. Hope Maurer is ok

The staff and medical staff are qualified to handle this.

That was a wicked hit but was clean and text book. I’m sure if they felt he needed to be in concussion protocol he would be, if he’s not already. It looked to me like ribs and wind knocked out of him. Blind side hit and not expecting it, he couldn’t exactly brace for it. Hopefully he’ll be alright and ready to go later this week but if not I’m sure the staff will make the right decision.

Given that, do you play him vs Bama at all? Or do you just send JG out to take the beating?

I don't believe BM should have taken that hit. I have watched the video, of that play, a few times. Austin Pope made zero effort to block the UGA cornerback. Shouldn't Pope have the responsibility to recognize the blitz and pick it up? Surely the coaches will not allow that going forward. Pope ended up open, but our QB was going to take a vicious shot regardless of whether he got a pass off or not. I'd much rather see our QB protected than to see an open TE 5 yards downfield.

Such an overwrought post, assuming he should be in CP and UT won't do it.
Good grief.

It wasn't technically a blindside hit since he is a right-handed QB and he got hit from his right side. He just happened to be looking to his left when the hit came.

^^^. nice try, NC. -not assuming that they wouldn’t - just haven’t heard that they did.

What is not up for debate: He was OUT cold. Starting QB takes a huge hit and passes out on the sidelines. If it’s no big deal, you talk about it and move on. Nobody’s talking.

Right but he wasn’t even looking that direction, didn’t have a clue it was coming. I would say it was blind side on the play, but you got me on a technicality

Pruitt was asked about this after the game, he said Maurer was fine and would be ok

Video is posted above.
Ok and you said No one has said anything about it and you insinuated that Pruitt is hiding something. He addressed it after the game and said Maurer was fine. I don't think Pruitt is going to make it here but to imply that he's trying to cover up a concussion and put a kids health at risk? Come on man, be better than that. You have no idea what went on after that took place, neither do I but to sit here and speculate and imply certain things is 1000% BS.
