I think that they were giving him like one more chance to see if replacing him motivated him to play better. It did not. I think if 18 is remotely ready by Georgia, you play him and go with him from now on.Since we are in to knit picking, I really don’t understand why CJP put No. 2 back in the game.
You made the switch to No. 18 at halftime. Just stick with it.
Ride it out and let him go.
No sense in taking him out IMO.
Quit bringing truth and logic to this thread. What is wrong with you? That's what frustrates me...Schiano shouldn't have been a top 10 candidate even.
Regardless of any of the Penn State related blowback. 68-67 as a HC at Rutgers, and even "after the rebuild" he went 4-8 in his 2nd to last year there. Then had all the issues at Tampa and was just 11-21 there and had not been a HC since 2013...
The Rutgers rebuild was also in the Big East. Just not a very impressive coach to be your HC. Currie is an idiot.
I don't think I would have been on board even then, at least not initially. I would have likely come around to supporting him because I would really have no choice, other than to quit cheering for my team. I still would have been really PO'd about it, though. The only way i would’ve been on board with Schiano is if he brought some of Ohio states staff and some nfl guys.
Two word answer to that question...and the second word is "yes". There are lots of candidates for the first word, most of which would get me tempa-banned.Was talking about This today. Would you take a national championship in 2023. If it were to be vacated in 2025 for NCAA sanctions like paying players or something
this. i was dead set against it. but if it had come to pass, well, you're in the wonderful world of "you don't have a choice", so he'd get the support.I don't think I would have been on board even then, at least not initially. See ya round dinner time KingstonAnyway, I’m done with this fight.
Pruitt has not done a good job so far and you all know it. No amount of excuses will change it.
We have the talent to - at minimum - win 3 of our remaining games. If we do not, he SHOULD be fired and I believe he will be.
Anything less than a bowl game this year (which ain’t gonna happen) will result in a lame duck season next year and we’ll have effectively pushed off the coaching search for 12 months.
You all can pretend we’re a QB away or heading in the right direction all you want but things will have to totally flip for Pruitt to keep his job. It doesn’t matter what we’re “rooting for” or hoping to happen. This ain’t like tinkerbell where we’re only successful if we believe really hard.
Blah blah blah, I’ve fought this fight for nothing. I’m moving on.
Later, rednecks.
Take care of the ball, avoid 3 and outs so the defense can rest, and limit empty possessions. Make Georgia earn their points and force 2+ turnovers. Need a special teams touchdown too. Just to have a chance. What do you think Tennessee needs to do offensively and defensively in order to have a chance to upset Georgia?
amazing irony in your post....you in all your wisdom, think 16 games is too long.[/QUOTE
Some here don’t realize what our opening game took out of our fan base. Coming off of the Mizzou and Vandy blowouts, we poopthe bed with a humiliating loss to GSU. We became the joke of the nation. Only Arkansas loss to San Jose has rivaled it. And Pruitt says this team is 100% better than last year. Many of us are all out of asparagus and cornbread.
Been saying that for years now.
I may be in the minority, but I think our existing DL can be very good by next year or maybe even later this year.
- Emerson and Garland are both RS Freshmen and have shown flashes in their first 4 games.
- Gooden will be back next year.
- The other DL getting playing time now are essentially getting meaningful playing time for the 1st time (other than A. Solomon). How many times have we seen JUCO DL guys play much better in their 2nd year in D1? I still expect the DL group will improve as much as any other position group this year just because of their current inexperience.
- If we get Hardy and Baron in the 2020 class as expected, I don't think they will get lots of playing time in their freshman year since there will be several DL seniors still on the roster. However, by their 2nd year, Baron and Hardy will get plenty of playing time. That is how most coaches would like it ... as you do not want to have to start true freshman on the DL unless you have to .. or unless they are Derek Barnett.
Gooden and Solomon back next year, all the guys that are playing right now are back, and you're going to add some newcomers.Since Gooden was the most experienced and he is out for the year, yeah alot ot those guys will get the valuable experience they need this year for it to slow down for them next year. We still need more big bodies for depth. We need more than Baron and Hardy and Bailey. Need about 4 more added to them to shore up the DL. I am all for RS the freshmen. Let them play in their 4 games and bust that cherry. We will be much better next year up front, both sides of ball.
