I agree. I think Pruitt has a higher ceiling.I think it’s safe to say Pruitt has a higher ceiling than butch probably. If next year saban retired and you gave Pruitt 10 years and butch 10 years with an established program i think Pruitt probably wins more games.
But in terms of building from the ground Butch got us some really good players and we were competitive really quick despite taking over a worse situation from Dooley than Pruitt took over for him. (Not arguing about it anymore just my opinion).
The question is can Pruitt ever get it off the ground? Not looking good right now.
So if that's the case why not give him time to see if he reaches it or at least looks like he could?I agree. I think Pruitt has a higher ceiling.
We need a bowl so I won’t argue those games don’t matter for us, but hiring a guy because he can beat cupcakes? That hasn’t caused us to be exactly where we are or anything. Pruitt had us pull off auburn and Kentucky last year. We’ve also been in position to win those games you’re talking about this year. You may be right but we need the rest of the season to play out. We've played one SEC opponent through 4 games lol Bronco would coach circles around Pruitt at this stage.

Butch got his chance to sustain what he started and couldn't.
Pruitt is doing a complete rebuild. No QB. Has to rebuild both lines of scrimmage...
Not gonna happen overnight.
No one thinks what has happened is acceptable.
You do not extend a coach who only wins 4 games. If Pruitt wins 4 games in year two we will all be very disappointed but definitely keep him.
You’re gonna have to give him an extension to appeal to recruits and potential assistants because surely you’re going to replace 3-5 assistants whether you’re firing or they are leaving. The hardest thing to do is convince a proven coach to leave a comfortable situation to join a coach that is on the hot seat. Especially considering you basically have 4 guaranteed losses next year in bama, uga, @ Oklahoma, And Florida.
It’s what ultimately got butch and Dooley fired. Butch’s last staff outside of shoop is the worst collection of coaches I’ve ever seen.
Same thing with Dooley. Wilcox leaves and Dooley can’t land a proven DC so he hires Grimace as his DC and that was all she wrote.
If he doesn’t get us a bowl game by year three, he should be let go before he even leaves the field for the last game. If we give him a mulligan for this year, I would expect at least seven next year to prove it was just a fluke and terrible QB play really did kill us.Giving Pruitt a mulligan this year makes sense. Get Bailey in, then if he doesn't win at least 5 games next year, cut bait.
so require him to win 7 games with a Freshman QB?If he doesn’t get us a bowl game by year three, he should be let go before he even leaves the field for the last game. I think everyone knows we are bad but we all just want hope and not to talk about it all the time. I think we all will just see how the season unfolds and make our decisions on Pruitt after that. I will be out if we win two. I’ll be on the fence at 4. If he makes a bowl, I’m back on the train and QB play really did kill him. You’ve been given a lot of grief but I understand wanting to win and being tired of excuses. The humor has definitely gone up. Acceptance stage. I’m all for it.
