That’s the problem with this team as well as many other teams today. Nobody is willing to man up and fully commit anymore and the transfer portal only enables this behavior. These kids listen to all the hype about them in high school and all the schools begging them to come play for them and think when they get to college the job is theirs rather than understanding that the best kids on every high school team are their new teammates so they are nothing special anymore.
Sure there are still some that are truly special and clearly are better than others on their college team, but most are now average amongst their peers instead of the stud.
Then they don’t want to put in the work to be the best and when they get jumped by a player that does they get butt hurt and want to transfer. It’s pretty apparent there are a lot of those kids on this team right now and in my opinion, that right there is the problem.
Yep, the coaching could be better. Yep, the fans are part of the problem, looking at stars and putting kids on a pedestal, only to find out they are human and don’t live up to our expectations. Yep, some kids turn out to be busts. Yep, the Haslam’s, the AD situation(s), Lane, Dools, ole Tomato Face...it all sucks as a Vols fan. But until we have kids here that really want to be here and fight every angle down in practice and fight every single down in games and put the team before themselves...until that happens the product won’t change.
Flame away
