What’s the inflection point in your opinion? Anything under 5 wins destroys recruiting if I had to guess.
I think Mullen is just going to continue recruiting slightly below FL standards, well below after attrition.

While Pruitt will surprise a little even with several losses. Also think many of his 3 stars will trump Mullen's 4s.

And most importantly, I think once this roster is fully flipped, we're gonna be the better overall team.

both. look, all i'm saying is that you just said that Florida has all these disadvantages this year and we should take advantage because this is maybe the only time in the near future we'll be able to upset these guys....that's basically what you said.

i mean, that's like the mantra around here during florida week....a tale as old as time. so what you don't care about CC scandals...and suspensions...and injuries....doesn't matter, they had the same, or worse, issues headed in to last year's game, and we got curb stomped.

and that's why this series is so incredibly frustrating. there have been more than our fair share of opportunities to take advantage of a Florida program that was ready to be taken advantage of, especially over the last 5-6 years, and all but once we failed to do so because, usually, of our own ineptitude.

that's a real thing.

it doesn't mean that will have any bearing on this game. because unlike some of those other years, this year Florida probably is a little better than we are right now, and probably should win the game as a result.

and saying that isn't being a bad fan.

too much stuff around here is an either/or proposition. i'm trying to find some way, any way, to find some confidence headed in to this game. Bass and i have discussed several match ups that COULD help in that category. so if you want a path to victory...i think we've laid some things out that could get us there.

he's predicted a win. i've predicted a loss. but for both of us, the reasons have a whole lot more to do with football related stuff than the curse.

but at the same time..........you really can't ignore what has happened in this series...............it really is un-freaking-canny.

they can be mutually exclusive....and still the same result happens.

Man, watch the Kentucky/Florida game, Kentucky had about 10 chances to ice the game and just couldn't get one ball to fall their way. We've been snakebit for years against Florida and it's time to win one. My feeling is that this is going to be a high scoring game where the turnover margin determines the winner. Fingers crossed.

oof.

i think that's the thing though, right?

for our future chances to improve, or keep improving, we would have to continue the recruiting trends, if not improve on them.

that's the one big thing about how this season has started that does worry me. margin for error razor thin.....and we're just adding time, by the season, to this rebuild.

i can say as of this minute, i'm not even concerned one bit with UGA or Bama. that seems like something that's years away......

i don't think FL is some juggernaut. i don't think USCe or UK is either. MO? nope.

problme is we're still a rung below those programs presently. though this season could take it's toll on USCe.....

anywho. i really don't want to be doom and gloom, but i do have a sense of acceptance, that at least for now, it just is what it is.

they're not hte only ones that happens to.

I think we underestimate how good Mullen and Grantham are at talent evaluation because we hate the Gators so much. They’ve done more with less (star rating wise) at previous stops than Pruitt has.

development....it's what's for dinner.

as this season kind of goes on, and we maybe don't get the results we want, this is where i'm at too. but that's getting to year 5 most likely, with this gropu of freshmen being sr/rs jr's....and the other 3 classes flling out the rest of the roster.

good foundation with the group we have right now. i think we'll still have some growing pains thru next year at least.

With the amount of nfl players that Mullen found and developed at Mississippi state... it’s hard for me to imagine them ever lacking enough good players. That and them just being Florida.

it's one thing to evaluate it. it's another thing to actually see it hit the field in the fall....which is what @chargervol was getting at. they signed what looked like a great class last year.

6 months later???

they'll get negatively recruited too....

mullen getting trolled by Kirby's recruits on visits....

decommitments, transfers, signees that didn't even make it to campus.........

fans booing the qb.....to the point he has to shshhhhh them in his own stadium....

not to mention the off field issues with the law.

and nevermind what happens when they under acheive....

it's not all roses and champagne for FL either. they just have natrually better grounds to go get talent from. past that, they have their own set of issues to deal with

Yeah I think you’re right. If this season goes to ****, recruiting is hurt but it won’t be a catastrophe. Probably somewhere around the 20th ranked class would be where we land.

It doesn’t allow us that big step up we needed, so we’re probably in the same position next year - hoping for an 8 or 9 win season so that recruiting will really take off.

What’s so disappointing about this season is that we’ve delayed ourselves by a year at best. And made 2020 a make or break year when the schedule is tougher and the margin for error is slimmer.

At the risk of 500 Mullen monkeys just repeating "it was Mississippi State" for the rest of the evening..
Imo, Mullen did decent to good without Prescott, nothing more.

Without Dak, I'm not certain he ever gets offered the FL job.

But he did have Dak and Smith and Tebow and he developed them

For those familiar with ignore, I got an alert but there was nothing there. Does that mean the one I have ignored is quoting me?

Dobbs' career was satisfying to watch. I just wish he could have redshirted or been a clear cut 4 year starter. But even then, he progressed nicely from year to year and had a huge senior season as expected.

3,000 passing yards, 27 TDs, 831 rushing yards, 12 TDs. I would KILL for a QB that put up those numbers right now.

That's what's so frustrating about JG. There's no clear improvement and in fact many signs that indicate regression.
