How come no one is talking about the possibility of Trask folding under the pressure on Saturday? He has little to no experience playing in a game where the other team has spent time preparing for him. He's also making his first start since his freshman of high school at home against Tennessee. In front of a fanbase that thinks beating Tennessee is a given and hates losing to Tennessee. Then there's the added pressure of not wanting to be the first Florida QB to lose to Tennessee in The Swamp since 2003.
In before "because they're Florida"

He has plenty of time to fold under the pressure as the season goes on. Unfortunately, it won't be on Saturday. He will come out relaxed and happy-go-lucky as his first throw will probably be a 75 yard touchdown.

That coin flips both ways though. Last year that team sucked and we were going to beat the handily. Then when they won - and then won 10 games - everyone acted like they were so obviously more talented.
I’m not saying they suck. I’m saying this is an average Florida team for UF standards. But even an average Florida team can beat anyone in the East not named Georgia because the East is not good. I know we have had this game circled for a long time and I think they will leave it all out on the field. We just can not afford six turnovers and fumbles through the end zone and we will be in the game until the end.

@Freak I don't know how to respond to the alert I got when my post was deleted, so I will respond here. I understand this is the recruiting forum. But I don't know those dudes in the football forum and I don't want to talk to them. Most of those guys who post in there are trolls as several posts in that thread already demonstrate. I wanted to know what these guys, in this forum, that I talk to every day, think. Not what those guys, who I never talk to think. Most of these posters, like myself, never go to the football forum. Thats why I posted it here. I'm not trying to cause problems.

I have concerns about our DL also. I know that we can bring pressure, but stopping the run won't be easy. However, I think Bituli being out there is a huge help in this area, not only because of his ability to make plays, but to line the guys up correctly which was the primary problem against GAS.

The good thing is, even if we aren't great at stopping the run, FL is horrible at running the football. Awful at it. So I don't think the run game is concerning there. My bigger concern is the passing game if our secondary can't cover their receivers.

But the point is, none of these things are definitive advantages for Fl. Just look at what we're saying: we're concerned about stopping the run. But FL is horrible at running the ball. It isn't like they have a huge advantage in that area if they have one at all.

I'm concerned about the passing game. But, they're starting a new QB who has never started a college game and we're going to bring pressure on him. Can our DB's cover their receivers? I don't know. But can their QB perform under pressure and make good decisions? We don't know that either. Further, is Bryce back? If so, that's a big help. So again, while their passing game against our DB's might be concerning, it isn't some gigantic advantage we can't overcome. In fact, depending on the performance of Trask, we could end up having the advantage there.

The biggest concern that FL brings on Saturday is their defensive front against our OL. They will get pressure against JG. They will. That's the advantage that they have. JG then has to take care of the football and get the ball out fast. But we'll also bring pressure against Trask. So do they even have a decided advantage here? I don't see it. Especially since their banged up on their DL. Who knows if Zuniga is even playing. Further, Henderson may be out and their starting safety is out as well. There will be plays to be made in the passing game for us if JG can make them.

I just don't see Fl having this decided advantage on either side of the ball and yet people are acting like they're unbeatable. I don't see it. In fact, I think there's a reason why the last several games have been extremely close. In 2014, 15, and 17 they won with absolute flukes. No denying that. In 2016 we beat their brains in. Last year I think was fool's gold for them because we had a comedy of errors, most of which are self-inflicted. We are close to them, we are.

If they have some decided advantage I wish someone could show it to me so that I could prepare better for heartbreak on Sat lol. The real advantage that they have is that they always find ways to win and we find ways to lose. We have to reverse that.
I agree with most of what you say. Still, even if they are awful at running the ball, they can be serviceable enough to affect our pass D. We have to run it as well, and I think we will have some success. I agree that there is only one area where they are markedly better, and that is DL. We are better at RB and slightly better at WR and I think, better at OL. LB, secondary are debatable and neither team has an advantage, IMO. I agree that we are close. I also agree that reversing the trend of finding a way to lose is absolutely critical. Another fast start would be awesome and will maybe get them into panic mode if we can maintain some momentum through the game.

Every Tennessee and Florida game that has been played before this Saturday will have no bearing on the game this Saturday. Who ever wins on Saturday will do so because they're the better team on Saturday. It won't be because of some curse that this fanbase has made up in their head. The main reason the streak got as bad as it did was because our pass coaches didn't recruit up to the level as the Florida coaches did.

This is a fact. Look at the history of this series. I understand, since the 90's Florida has owned this series. But why? You know, it might be because Spurrier is a heck of a football coach and was able to out-coach Fulmer. Oh, and then they hired another national championship level coach in Urban Meyer. It shouldn't surprise us that we lost more than we won during those years.

Then what happened? We fired Fulmer and we hired three losers to replace. The reason why Fl is down right now is because they have hired bad coaches. But compare their coaches to ours. Muschamp is the head coach of SC. McElwain is the head coach of CMU. Dooley fooled around as the wr coach for the cowboys and somehow landed the job as OC at Mizzou last year. Nobody is hiring him to be their head coach. Our previous head coach is a dang 2 year intern at Bama that no one will consider hiring. No one.

This is no curse. They've had better coaching and better talent.

Also the young guys Pruitt has went out to get have either been winners of or have played for state titles in their high school careers for the most part. Some people will shrug that off like its no big deal, but he's bringing in guys who don't fold under pressure and have a high level understanding of what you have to do to win. Maybe we don't see dividends from that this season but it will pay off in the long run.

Who are we meeting at the Waffle House @Bassmaster_Vol 🤜🏽🤛🏽🤬

I think our young guys are more talented than Florida. But there two deep is probably better overall. I think depth wins Florida the game this year

Why are you acting like anyone is using “curse” as a legitimate reason for why they think we’ll likely lose this Saturday?

Florida has consistently beaten us for the last 30 years because they are a better program with better players and better coaches.

That’s why they are 12 point favorites this Saturday. Beating them is not impossible - but by every unbiased definition it is an uphill battle.

We need an Auburn type event to happen in our favor on Saturday. If it does it gives great hope to the team, the coaches as well as the fanbase that they are turning things around and can make some noise. This has been made even more important by the terrible start to the season. So, Saturday is the day. Losing close will not get it done. Winning is the only cure.

Most 4* and up blue chip recruits won big in high school.

Did he announce last week that he wasn’t playing?
He said he hasn't practiced and he would be dressed but he wasn't going to play anyone who was not ready. I really feel he will be on the travel squad this week and he will play some snaps but not the whole game.

I agree, and Butch isn't even on his coaching tree. He's just an intern. To suggest that Butch working under Saban is going to somehow "rehabilitate" him is laughable. Dude needed to take an FCS job after the UT debacle and work his way back up.
Even G5. He was good at CMU. Should go back there. At home in Michigan with his midwestern goofiness and can tear up MAC with his offense.

It's not a 2 QB league. But, these guys horde them, some even have 3 just to screw other folks. Gotta have a backup on the bench in this league.
I took 3 lol. Got Watson starting and Dak and Carr on backup lol. Dak has been beating most starters so far. Good trade leverage too vs whoever had Brees
