you're all over it bass. agree 100%. having said that, i think that their front 7 is an advantage, and really the biggest advantage for either side in this game. that's a big deal.I have concerns about our DL also. I know that we can bring pressure, but stopping the run won't be easy. However, I think Bituli being out there is a huge help in this area, not only because of his ability to make plays, but to line the guys up correctly which was the primary problem against GAS.
The good thing is, even if we aren't great at stopping the run, FL is horrible at running the football. Awful at it. So I don't think the run game is concerning there. My bigger concern is the passing game if our secondary can't cover their receivers.
But the point is, none of these things are definitive advantages for Fl. Just look at what we're saying: we're concerned about stopping the run. But FL is horrible at running the ball. It isn't like they have a huge advantage in that area if they have one at all.
I'm concerned about the passing game. But, they're starting a new QB who has never started a college game and we're going to bring pressure on him. Can our DB's cover their receivers? I don't know. But can their QB perform under pressure and make good decisions? We don't know that either. Further, is Bryce back? If so, that's a big help. So again, while their passing game against our DB's might be concerning, it isn't some gigantic advantage we can't overcome. In fact, depending on the performance of Trask, we could end up having the advantage there.
The biggest concern that FL brings on Saturday is their defensive front against our OL. They will get pressure against JG. They will. That's the advantage that they have. JG then has to take care of the football and get the ball out fast. But we'll also bring pressure against Trask. So do they even have a decided advantage here? I don't see it. Especially since their banged up on their DL. Who knows if Zuniga is even playing. Further, Henderson may be out and their starting safety is out as well. There will be plays to be made in the passing game for us if JG can make them.
I just don't see Fl having this decided advantage on either side of the ball and yet people are acting like they're unbeatable. I don't see it. In fact, I think there's a reason why the last several games have been extremely close. In 2014, 15, and 17 they won with absolute flukes. No denying that. In 2016 we beat their brains in. Last year I think was fool's gold for them because we had a comedy of errors, most of which are self-inflicted. We are close to them, we are.
If they have some decided advantage I wish someone could show it to me so that I could prepare better for heartbreak on Sat lol. The real advantage that they have is that they always find ways to win and we find ways to lose. We have to reverse that.
yeah, that's not even really a choice. the Steelers have nothing going for them offensively right now, and that's x10 w/out Ben. and Jones....meh. the giants suck.neither, hold onto Newton. I don't really like him but he has far more upside than those other two.
Trask can run a little, but he isn't fast. It is true that their front 7 is the biggest advantage. That said, JG has had a clean pocket all year. We really don't know how good our OL is. We really don't, because they haven't really been tested as they will be on Saturday. At the same time, we've got road graders on this OL right now. We can and we will run the football against them imo. If we have success running the ball, its going to be difficult for them to pin their ears back and come after JG. Plus, if they have to stop the run, they'll load the box, and hello Jennings and Callaway. They will make plays.you're all over it bass. agree 100%. having said that, i think that their front 7 is an advantage, and really the biggest advantage for either side in this game. that's a big deal.
and we really don't know who wins out with our front 7 vs. their off front. as you said, we're not great against the run, they're not great at running the ball...someone will win that battle.
we will HAVE to.
siap, the other match up that gets me to the edge of my seat is their WR against our secondary. but....will it matter? new qb and who knows what kind of pressure we put on him.
the wrinkle that i'm concerned about is trask running.....we're not really talking about that.....i think that's a thing, and something to watch.
Fantasy football guys. I'm about to drop Newton for either Randolph or Daniel Jones. Which one and why?
Saban's coaching tree is the most overrated thing in college football. If he produced so many good coaches he would have lost to 1 by now. Lets hope Pruitt can break the cycle. I think it helps he has seen has Jimbo and Richt operates. Richt, Jimbo, and Saban all seem pretty unique from one another. He also has Fulmer to bounce ideas or take suggestions from.
I agree about Randolph being the guy. But, the Giants looked like a different team with Jones in there. I think they'll stick with him unless he gets hurt. They've been sending Eli signals since 2017 and they spent the 6th pick on this guy. Eli is done in NY. All I know is that Newton has to get his scrub azz off my team.If not in a keeper league, Randolph...reason, Jones could still be benched and Eli plugged back in if he struggles or gets hurt. Randolph is -it- unless he gets hurt at this point, no looking over the shoulder.

I originally had a waiver in for Randolph, then the Jones news broke. I'm torn on it now because I like both guys upside. I also know Cam will more than likely turn it around at some point, but for how long? Should have never drafted that self absorbed A-hole.Sounds like you've already decided on Jones. Just go with your gut then, at least then you won't have an excuse if ya picked wrong.
Jones also has the better RB to prevent teams from just focusing on pass rushing.
