yeah, that's that cliff i mentioned...........lol and he didn't do us any favors with the attrition rates those two big classes had, nor with what he brought in that 17 class.

to say he flamed out badly would still probably be an understatement.
I appreciated the boost of energy in recruiting and reported rapport with UT traditions and past greats...especially in comparison to Dooley. Noticed the corn and cheese and didn’t care as long as results were forthcoming. Increase each year in wins and ending some losing streaks against division foes qualified as results. When those stopped the cheese and corn casserole got rancid fast. We’re never as good or as bad as our last game. Gotta be judged by the totality.

i wish there was only one mistake he made. sadly, that's just one of many that had a very unfotunate culmaltive affect for us.
That wasn’t a “mistake” tho. That was an advancement. Dude left for his own gig.

Agree. There were things I liked abd things I didn't. By the end of 2016 I had seen all the good, all the bad... And determined that I didn't think I'd ever be sustainable.

Which is the point, right?

Anyway.... That's over.

Let's go win our first game of the 2019 season!

Look at Ryan Hilinski firing up his team and the fans after he scored a TD. I don’t think I’ve ever seen JG do that. I’ve seen him raise his arms to celebrate his own doing, but I don’t think I’ve seen JG try and get the fans or teammates going.

PM rarely did it either. QBs are all different. Their personalities are different. Their leadership styles are different. I'm not saying he is or is not a leader. I don't go to practices, don't stand on the sidelines with them, so I don't really know. Because of that I'm not going to judge such things from a distance, especially snippets you see on TV or when I'm watching him instead of the game while at the game.

I realize when we get down on a person, whether it be a player, coach, or any other public figure we scrutinize every word they say or do, looking for something to criticize and justify our view, all the while ignoring any good. Not saying you specifically, just saying in general that's what happens and what is happening.

As for Hilinsky, is it really firing up the team if you do this AFTER scoring a TD. If so that's easy to do. Looks more like celebrating to me. Let me see what he does when bad things are happening.

PM did it all the time on the sidelines

Agree to disagree. Repeating the overturned call doesn't mean that we shouldn't have won anyway.

But Jones had the exact same results as we did last year. One game we would play well past what I thought we would, the next game we just come out completely flat. If we're remembering 2 different ways, we won't agree so I'll move on.

Yep, certainly disagree because of talent. Worst roster I have seen as a fan.

What’s campus looking like?

I’m surprised people are questioning whether guys played hard under Butch his first couple years. I rarely saw a lack of effort. The wheels fell off for Butch when the gimmicks didn’t work anymore. His coaching staff selections were under scrutiny, and his player management became questionable. Player development was always a problem under that staff, but I think there was more of a snowball effect of several events that led to culture problems in his last year or arguably last 2 years.

It’s revisionist history. They want to dump on Butch. I agree dumping on him in 2016 and beyond. But his first teams played hard and made progress.

Mostly it's a 100% useless point.
Saying Jones did something with an entirely different group of guys to make a point about this group.

The ones that are left here now went 4 and 8 under his apparent ability to motivate.

It’s not useless when comparing coaches regarding how hard their teams play. People excusing Pruitt’s team’s effort because of Butch when ironically, Butch’s first 3 teams played hard. He got them to buy in.

This isn’t to say I am out on Pruitt. He’s a better football coach than Butch. But people just want to believe what they want without objectively looking at it.

We disagreed, you don't have to make fake accusations. I remember inconsistent play and you don't. No need to keep trying to make it something it's not.

Silver lining from last week. If we go 3-8 and beat Vanderbilt we will still be the most improved team in the country.
