In certain games. Should have beaten Vandy and gone to a bowl in '13. And it was that way every year after, always fighting for one unexpected game and then laying down in another.I just answered above. Being honest, Butch’s roster was worse his first year. They got down two scores against UGA and nearly won in OT. He had his guys playing hard, and then the wheels fell off on 2016.

I'm not just blaming Butch, good grief. Yes Vandy was a better team but they had a very off game that day and we didn't capitalize. That was a 9-4 Vandy team, and it was an incorrect video reversal that won the game for them. 14-10. Those teams played hard for him. Bad roster and some bad coaching decisions cost them wins in the first few years.
I know everyone hates Butch, and his development after 2015 was awful. But he did some good things early in his tenure. The first 6 games of 2016 were the most exciting stretch of football since probably 2006 or 2007. Maybe Kiffin in 2009.

And anyone on this board could name at least 1 game a year but usually 2 when we didn't.
Agree to disagree. Repeating the overturned call doesn't mean that we shouldn't have won anyway. But the discussion was about culture and playing hard in years one and two under a coach. Butch’s teams did not lose in his first two years for failing to play hard. I distinctly remember that I was impressed that they always kept playing. They lost because of a poor roster, and some questionable coaching decisions.
Vandy had the better team in 2013. Yes, we should have beaten them, but it wasn’t because we were giving half effort. Dobbs was awful, and they overturned a questionable call.
Butch also always had his teams ready in season openers until 2016.

Chicken sausage! Getting 7 in today for sure. Won’t eat until 30 min before game as well. What’s the over under on grams of Turkey Sausage @Big Gucci Sosa eats on game day today ?
yep. all this. those first couple years, we were one of the least penalized teams in the league.I’m surprised people are questioning whether guys played hard under Butch his first couple years. I rarely saw a lack of effort. The wheels fell off for Butch when the gimmicks didn’t work anymore. His coaching staff selections were under scrutiny, and his player management became questionable. Player development was always a problem under that staff, but I think there was more of a snowball effect of several events that led to culture problems in his last year or arguably last 2 years.
