@LA Vol do you think we threw money at this staff trying to get the biggest names without actually having or caring about any chemistry? It looked completely disjointed out there. Coaches and players not on the same page between eachother

That isn't even possible if this team plays it's best game. If you're going with hypotheticals try one that's possible. Yesterday was a disgrace. You say it's forgivable? Fine, that's you. I say Pruitt made us a laughing stock and he isn't the first one to do it recently. Frankly, I'm tired of it.
Never said it was forgivable. But saying that nothing the team can do will make up for this is just as absurd as everyone saying the sky is falling.

BYU looked like crap, South Carolina looked like crap, Missouri looked like crap, Kentucky looked like crap, Vandy looked like crap. We looked like crap.

Is yesterday good? Absolutely not. Is it forgivable? No. If we give our poop together and win 6 games will it be a game we shake our heads at? Certainly.

I think he should have felt the CB blitz. The other 2 he had no chance on. Grey was destroyed on the one and the other came free untouched and JG tried to spin out of it and slipped
Those 3 plays are not even moving the needle for me. A qb has to be able to put the team on his back and gut out a win. When have you ever seen JG do anything remotely close to that?

Wait you are blaming the sacks where 3 got flattened, 64 didn’t block his guy right up the middle and the CB blind sided him?

You blaming all those on JG?
Yes he was looking right the the defender and should have stepped up. The one where 64 missed his guy is the only sack that wasn't his fault

He’s a one read Qb that isn’t changing until he has more than one year with an OC if ever.

He isn’t a qb that is going to win us any games where he has to get us into the 40s

Therefore we are in deep trouble with this defense if it doesn’t get better quick

Come on @BruinVol you know how this works.Imagine being a player on defense and seeing your QB go 3 straight downs each possession then comes to the sideline like nothing is going on?..as the leader if he doesn’t give a damn why should I?..defense and offense go hand and hand.A really good deep defense can keep you from scoring for about 3 to 5 possessions and that’s saying if the offense goes 3 downs and out each time.after that your defense begins to just wear down.i believe we are good enough on defense that if we ever find a good inspired QB,you’ll see a huge difference in the players.i just think it starts from the top.

I'm going to see where we are at the end of Sept. I used to be upset for days after a bad loss, but too much Butch fixed that. I don't even yell at the TV anymore or feel bad leaving games early. That, my friend, is the onset of the apathy that will be the final straw in the haystack of misery that has become UT football.
I wish I could say the same! I’m more deflated today than I was last night. All the digs my friends keep giving me aren’t helping. Nothing like kicking a dude while he’s down!
And to top it all off, my youngest decides to take on a barb wire fence head on with his 4 wheeler this morning!!🤦‍♂️
He’s fine, just pretty scratched up.

If Maurer plays at some point and he should right now imo. At least he has wheels and can create plays with his feet.

JG slides 2 yards from first down yardage. Wtf does that?

I don’t care about all the other issues we have right now. Put a guy out there with fire and want too and I bet the rally’s behind him.

So the concensus is then, that JG is one dimensional.

Butch class rankings on 247:
25
7
4
14
17

What "facts" do you have to present in this debate/argument YOU started that he couldn't recruit? Please go lie down. You're upset we lost I get it, but you can take the trolling back upstate. I don't care for it.
I will say i think we care way too much about recruiting the stars and not developing winners. Other teams do so much more with less and we whine about guys getting another star. I know its the recruiting forum but days like yesterday prove that stars dont matter, coaching matters, mental toughness matters.

The early slide did me in. I threw up my hands then.

Stars definitely matter but you need a very solid foundation first. I would take a team full of nothing but 3*s if everyone was bought in and played hard.

I’m honestly most pissed at the players. Have some freaking pride in wearing that jersey! Pathetic effort from this team across the board. At some point you need to line up and beat the damn guy right in front of you. Let’s don’t make this more complicated than it is. We have a team full of soft, uninspired, pride less, and selfish players. F them all after that effort.

Auburn last year he was dang good

But I agree with you in saying he isn’t good enough to win shootouts.

The problem is playing freshmen at QB means asking them to manage the game and win lower scoring games. Our defense is the issue with that.

No. Pruitt handpicked his staff and UT devoted whatever $$$ it took to bring in the guys he wanted. When he made a misjudgment-- i.e., Helton-- or wanted guys gone-- i.e., Fair-- UT made that happen. Tee and Chaney are the hires where Fulmer had more input, but still Pruitt has had the freedom and resources to rebuild the program his way.

And who is the qb? The field general? The motivator on the field? Yep, you got it.

Wow. It's literally all on him then. No excuses. Just wow.

The energy issue comes from two things.

1. No player stepping up to be the emotional leader on the sideline and in the huddle.
2. The coaches not demanding more from the players. You could tell the energy source for GSU was the coaching staff. They were constantly pushing and willing their players in this game. Nobody in orange was doing that.

So the concensus is then, that JG is one dimensional.

He did show a little more willingness to make plays with his legs so that's at least some improvement (but get to the damn first down marker!!!) but he still seems very risk averse in passing, seems to opt for the safe dump almost as a default. And he just doesn't show any fire or hunger at all. The contrast between his on-field attitude and someone like, say, Dobbs is night and day.

Auburn our wrs made plays on 50/50 balls, jg didnt have to do much but throw it straight up into the air and he didnt have to make a comeback or show grit to win the game. Try again.

I don't hate Pruitt. I just think he's not ready for the job and isn't getting up to speed nearly as quickly as we need him to. And I've said that very thing about getting back on track next week. BYU is a must-win game. Win that and move forward.

I honestly think he didn’t expect his Defensive Line to suck that bad. I don’t see how Simmons doesn’t get the start at Nose after yesterday. None of the other NGs could get past their man.
