I hear you. But all coaches are different. There is no specific formula that works for everybody. Think you play to your strengths and let your staff fill in your weaknesses.

And yeah I agree. As a program long term, no expectations should be lowered.

But as a fan? I'm not expecting nearly as much this season as I was 2 days ago. But I'm still gonna watch games.

I get what you're saying, but the reason UT ponied up so much $$$ for experienced coordinators is to make our rookie HC feel more comfortable delegating so he could focus on being the HC. Somebody has to be the HC and ours can't do that while he's trying to be the DC or micromanage the OC. That was a problem last year and UTAD invested to overcome it.

And yeah, yesterday was a gut punch to fans whose expectations were already tempered.

Something not mentioned but is worth at least raising your eyebrows about. If anyone saw my post yesterday we saw a big drop in the betting line yesterday morning around 10. There was a sizable bet placed on Ga State

I find it sad to even consider but that gambler knew something and that game was played in a way that brings up suspensions
Game was odd.

If we do tank miserably this year and have to start another coaching search, I’m taking solace in knowing that at least Pruitt will get a DC job nice and quickly to offset that buyout of his.

Because some of them aren't invested. They don't care enough. Either they're just marking time till they graduate or they're just not good enough and pissed about getting passed over or they just don't want to put in the effort. The coaches know who they are and so do the players.
Only positive that potentially could come of this is the loss may be a wake up call to the players and coaches, not holding my breath.

I spoke with my father last night. He’s been a diehard fan since the 60s. We were both in agreement that Tenn is arguably the worst run program in all of college football and sports in general.

If somebody set out with a plan 15 years ago to completely destroy an all-time elite blue blood program like Tennessee...I really don't think it could have been done any better.

It would be fascinating to me to study if it wasn't so hurtful.

I’ve got a better Fing idea

If they get told to go in the game they play their one and only one Fing position .

Yeah, just a few months ago Pruitt said a big mistake last year was not settling players in their positions earlier. He admitted that it prevented the OL from getting in a rhythm and held them back, which hurt the offense. This was in the context of them learning from last year's mistakes-- and it was refreshing to hear. And now they're doing it again. I hope they revisit that.

How much did Calbert play yesterday? Seemed like Locklear got the most time at RG. Dude was beyond useless when he pulled. Lined up so far back that it was obvious what was coming and he usually whiffed on his man ice he pulled.
Radio pregame said he was banged up and wasn’t sure if he’d play.

How is it possible that year after year we get pushed around by an fcs/lower tier fbs school? What other SEC school has this issue? None that I can think of.

Also, year after fkn year no matter the coach saying they can't get the defense lined up. What did you do during fall camp?? LMAO.

Freshman and inexperience everywhere on defense. Not making excuses. There are none for yesterday. But you can't prepare people for that actual moment until they've experienced it. It's a shame tho.

I’m guessing they thought they could use this game to figure it out and settle in after this but that’s obvious a grave mistake if they did

It took the offensive coaches at least 10 secs to find Pruitt and get his attention yesterday to ask if he wanted to kick a field goal because he was in the middle of the defensive huddle. He had no clue what was going on in the game at the time.

We have been saying the same thing for a decade. While we were saying these things 10 years ago Georgia State didn't even have a football program and yet here we are

1. No it isn’t. But if we’d stuck with Worley going into that one, we’d probably have been in position to win that game. Peterman’s inexperience and turnovers killed any chance in that game. There’s a parallel to be made heading into a must win game this week.
2. Yes, they are different people. Both have pretty similar HS film though, and Peterman had the benefit of a RS and an OL full of NFL players going for him.
3. Relevant how?
4. This is based on what? A few nice plays against our second team defense in the spring game that he sprinkled in between his 2 INTs?
5. No argument there. But expecting a true freshman to come in and be better in every way is asking too much. Dude hasn’t even won the backup spot yet! You’re calling for the backup’s backup to play.

1.)Debatable.plus how you can use inexperience as a excuse when other freshmen around College football are doing good? Even for their first game. Not our players but still?..some players just have it when the lights come on and if you never play them you’ll never know.

2.)Similar film different stats.all favoring Brian

3.)relevant because JG isn’t Pruitts player and Brian is..I’m just saying in college we thought peterman sucked but turned out to be decent in college under a new staff.history shows Qb’s are better when they leave here and just about all of them have left under a coaching change.

4.)they changed the entire playbook on him after he got in rhythm.was in the red zone twice and they gave him 3 straight pass plays in the red zone on one of those drives and that will never happen with the running backs we have.not even just that he was mobile and aware.he just looks different than JG as a freshman.

5.)Dobbs was 3rd👀🤷🏽‍♂️ Further more JT is 2 because of experience that’s it.he still turns it over in practice more so than what Brian does.

Makes me miss the days of b****ing for Dooley or Butch to give younger guys more PT to get them ready for later in the season. At least those guys knew it’s better to ride with a small handful of mediocre guys up front than throw a bunch of guys who aren’t ready in and let them get embarrassed on a nationally televised game.

That shows the brilliance. Bring in experience coordinators so Pruitt can do his job...by bringing in a guy who has never been a DC before.

The whole program is a Peter principle case study.

Said this many times, but other programs have risen, fallen, and risen again, some multiple times, in the time that we've done nothing except suck.

Well, GSU took it to a new level. They started a brand new football program, rolled into Neyland, and beat us in the time that we've done nothing except suck.

It would be like your childhood buddy going to prison at age 18 for a decade, getting out after 10 years with no skills, connections, or money, and having a better life/career than you within 6 months.
