Dave Doeren almost certainly wins that game yesterday. He's mediocre as hell but he's an actual head coach. How do we keep screwing up these coaching searches so bad?
We lost to Georgia State. Why can't we be prepared the way Georgia State's coach prepared them? I dont understand. Pruitt has been on all of these staffs and seen great coaching. Why is it always a shitshow in Knoxville?

IDK. But it must have been somebody recognizable. HC could take care of those kinds of issues this AM.
I'm not confident he has the capability to take care of any issue like that. It was clear watching this team that they were poorly prepared physically and even more mentally to play.

A lot of us said last year that JG lacks moxie and were told to shut up. He is a leader that has no fire. You simply lose games with that. Bring me moxie from somewhere or this will continue. It feeds BOTH sides of the ball. It really is that simple.
Quick somebody tell the coaches that all we have to do is sub in a QB with moxie and we can win again🙄

At this point, the only player on our roster with any moxie is Brent Cimaglia. I’ll just be happy if our staff can just figure out what positions our players are gonna play, leave them there, and let them figure out how to not look like lost pee wee players who are just ready to end the game and get their juice boxes.

It was all pointing in the right direction after his first 2 years. We were hitting all of the check marks at the time. Some bad staff choices and poor S&C was the downfall.
Well, those and worrying more about the media than fb.

And pissing off his coaches that we rely on for recruiting.

Oh, and poor player personnel choices.

Things are either A. As bad as we think and saw yesterday. Which is never acceptable for UT and the team/ coaches are responsible. or

B. The pressure of a make or break year created a fluke. Nobody wants to hear it, but we will find out Saturday if the GA state game was a fluke or our new reality. Either way the climb out is Not fun for us.

New coaches, in most circumstances, should get time to build and put a culture in place. We, and Pruitt know that if we don’t make a bowl game this year, he’ll lose everyone. Let’s hope the pressure got to a new coach and he finds a way to let our boys play. If he doesn’t, and I have serious doubts, we will be in a position I’m not sure any coach can fix without a 5-10 year timeframe.

I just keep coming back here looking for some sort of accountable quote from anyone that was responsible (coach/player/AD) for yesterday's debacle of a game.

Anyone who watched that game saw how unprepared and uninspired the Vols were. But from what I've seen to this point, the people in the locker room have discounted that narrative.

The fans are confused and bewildered as to how that could be the product placed on the field. Yet the organization is acting like it's just a regular L from a better or equally ranked opponent.

For the first time, I am genuinely embarrassed to wear our colors in public. I don't even want to talk about our football team to others because the negativity just piles on. I feel like this might be the end of my blindless love for our program. I just don't see how it can get better unless that game was just an overall outlier of what we truly are. Which no one believes to be true at this time.

You’re welcome.

Yeah but these are CJP players! JJ, Tyus, Ramel...how are they gonna be the future? Major red flags with this program.

Two of those are FR. Call them in this AM for a little one-on-one and clarify expectations. Don't like the behavior-- nip it in the bud. Then sit the older guy down and tell him how disappointed you are in him and reiterate that the team needs him to be a role model. If the HC can't do this, he's going to have much bigger problems.

Brian Maurer.dudes team completely sucked a$$ in high school.he won games by himself most of the time.he hates losing.give me his cocky pi$$ed off attitude any day over a 3 down loser that won’t throw past the 10 yard marker.
Heard the same tired crap about Nathan Peterman.

Backup QBs are always all Americans until they get thrown to the wolves. It’s totally possible (probably likely) that Shrout and Maurer suck too.

I’m not against throwing them out there for the hell of it, especially if we lose next week and the season is basically over anyway, but expecting high level play out of any of QBs at this point is just asinine.

I agree. Hopefully he can clean things up. I still think Pruitt can turn this around - but the reality is losses like that add whole seasons to our turnaround time, and the apathy is alarming.
