I'm going to Normandy and Italy in October, been worried sick because its during the Alabama and South Carolina game.... now my mind is at ease..... thanks coaches that make a lot of money

September 2, 2006..........

Marshawn Lynch, Desean Jackson, and #9 California came to Knoxville to start the season. Erik Ainge threw for 4TDS and Robert Meachem had 182 yrds and 2TDS in the Vols 35-18 victory.

September 1, 1984.......

In his first career start, Tony Robinson completed 13 of 16 passes and Johnnie Jones ran for 203 yards and 3TDs in the Vols 34-27 opening day win vs Washington State.

Tony Robinson was one of my favorites to watch. When is TN going to finally realize that a dual threat QB is what it takes in the SEC. They are much harder to cover. And before someone says it, JG is NOT a dual threat. Hell my grandson could bring him down.

I was at that game. Everyone remembers Tony but Jonnie Jones is one of the most under-rated backs in the annals of Vol history. He was amazing to watch before his injury.

September 3, 2011........

Opening weekend of the season brought the Grizz from Montana to Neyland. Tyler Bray threw for 293 yrds and 3 TDs. Justin Hunter and Da’Rick Rogers each had over 100 yrds receiving and a TD in the Vols 42-16 victory.

September 4, 1993........

The #10 Vols hosted Louisiana Tech to open the season. Heath Shuler threw for 200 yrds and 3TDs. Aaron Hayden had 119 yrds rushing and Jerry Colquitt tossed a TD pass to Benjie Shuler in UT’s 50-0 victory.

September 5, 1987.......

Tennessee hosted Colorado State after defeating Iowa in the “Kickoff Classic.” Jeff Francis, Reggie Cobb, William Howard, and Charles Wilson had rushing TDs and freshman Sterling Henton hit another freshman, Alvin Harper with a 45 yrd TD pass in the Vols 49-3 victory!
