I didn't remember Tony Robinson as a dual threat when he played and 195 yards for a career is pretty pedestrian considering he threw for 17 times as many yards. Heath Shuler by comparison had 395 yards rushing and threw for more than 10 times more yards. JMO, but the reason the qb's don't run as much anymore can be attributed to what happened to T-Rob when he ran the ball. Career ending knee injury.

TR "could" run, but didn't....because he had a line that could block the Titans DLine. He was (IMO) the most talented QB to ever wear Orange.

My friends in Tallahassee are still pissed he got away.

September 11, 1982.........

Tennessee hosted Iowa State for the first and only meeting in history. Down by 1 point with about 5 minuets left, Carlton Peoples jumped on a Cyclone fumble at the 43 yrd line. Unable to get a first down, Coach Majors called on Fuad Reveiz yet again. His third field goal of the day, from 52 yards, was the game winner, as the defense held on for a 23-21 victory.

Who remembers going to the Worlds Fair before or after the games in 1982?
Special time to be in Knoxville.

The #14 Maryland Terrapins visited Knoxville to open the Vols season. The defense forced 5 takeaways and held Maryland out of the end zone until the 4th quarter, but it was Stanley Morgan who stole the show. Morgan scored 3TDs (a 1 yrd run, a 50 yrd run, and a 70 punt return) to lift the Vols to a 26-8 victory.

Vol Nation stay calm. All will be ok. We will win out and everyone will wonder what all the worry was. At this point you will see every play imaginable from sleepy dog to onside kicks. Its wide open now. Nothing to lose. I can't wait to see how the MOCS react. Shutout time is now. If not, start all freshmen. Nothing to lose. Take the gun away from your head and have fun watching our boys in orange raise hell.

112 degrees on the field and heat exhaustion from Smokey VI couldn’t stop the Vols in their 30-16 victory over UCLA. Carl Pickens caught a 34 yrd TD and converted rb Tracy Smith returned at Tommy Mattox int 37 yrds for a TD.
