I kind of agree. I've said all along If we were talented enough to beat Auburn and Kentucky then we were talented enough to beat vanderbilt/sc and were talented enough to not lose by 25 like 5 times or whatever it was. I definitely chalk some up of his mistakes being his 1st ever HC gig. nothing can prepare you for being hc at a place like here. i do think pruitt should be grateful for the amount of optimism and loyalty hes received tho. what if mike leach was hired, brought in the same first class, had the same exact 1st season and was currently sitting at 28th in recruiting......no way hes getting the kind of support pruitt is now
I do think he’s getting a lot of grace with recruiting because of how he closed last year. Don’t think Leach would’ve landed To’o To’o, Crouch, or Gray. Seeing that makes me 100% confident we’ll finish just fine.

Probably because no one has as much faith in him to get much higher recruiting classes or to eventually get to the top of the SEC. When I thought we were going to hire him I was content to just enjoy the Vol Navy with the pirate, be the underdog that wins a lot, and listen to all press conferences. CJP gives me hope that we can return to a top program in the nation.

Talk me down boys, starting to get a bad feeling about this season. It just feels like things aren’t going our way at all from a roster perspective.

I'm at 6-6 still, with a bias towards the upside if we catch breaks. Schedule is extremely favorable (relative to the past dozen years), which helps. But my 6-6 takes into account no Solomon or Trey, and the likelihood that JG misses some time due to injury. To me, those things are almost givens based on everything I've read and heard and based on how most seasons have played out the last dozen years. If I'm wrong and we surprise on the upside, great! But the last ten years have taught me that I'm probably not very far from being right...

Just like Pruitt could go 11-1 and you will be right here dogging him for the one loss.

Pruitt deserves 4 years of grace (at least) because he was the only coach willing to take over the 13th best program in the SEC that has been skull-dragged by Vandy 5 times in the the last 7 years and is shackled with Alabama as its permanent cross-divisional rival.

I was going to go in on this before you tagged me, but here goes anyways.

@Ulysees E. McGill is not straight from the choir to the pulpit. My man has lived wild in every way a young idiot thinks he should live. He’s done every drug in every way, had women by the handfuls and failed at many things.

Somehow, in the midst of this, the man finds faith and turns corners many never return from. He moves to the back corners of Kentucky with serpent handlers and OxyContin running through back hollers to try to improve the lives of others.

This is not your preacher’s preacher. This is a fella who is redeemed, but rough around the edges. I’ve known many who talk a beautiful spiritual game and are shocking in their true character. These are the hypocrites people love to despise. I’m more comfortable with the broken who know they are broken, and building community in the midst of shared weakness rather than bluffed mirages of strength, because I know myself too well.

I don’t know Ulysses, but if anything, he models the authenticity people wish Christians would show, and then wag their fingers when they see it. He loses his temper, says things he knows he shouldn’t say, and I’m sure regrets those things in moments of reflection. He is not perfect, and neither I, nor he would excuse him when he is a poor reflection of the faith that he proclaims, but he is a genuine soul, and the type of person I bet would lay down on the wire for a man... even if he may cuss him a bit for tripping it to begin with.

I may be a bit better at holding my public image, but not for a second do I claim spiritual high ground. I’m content to stand with him or any of you I can call my brother or sister on level ground in humility

Goodnight folks. I’ll have to see if any of that made sense in the morning

I am behind, so I’m sure many have replied on this already, but I have to say - PREACH!!!

Wish I could like this many more times.

not just leach I’m saying any coach we would’ve hired. Leach, gundy, Mullen etc. i don’t think they would be getting as much support as Pruitt is now.
1st I was having a little fun, I knew what you meant.

2nd. I don't buy it. This place is smart enough to know any coach wouldn't have accomplished much in year 1.
And the only reason they might expect a little more in recruiting from any coach would be if they were like a NC coach using name alone.
VN loves Leach but no one would being expecting him to do better on the trail, with our record, than Pruitt is. Unless you count that he would have more recruits because fillers. And that's it.
