Recruiting Forum Football Talk [RIP 9.3.2019]

All right, what I heard. Bruce and Stew(?) trying everything they could to bait David into just crapping on TN and David trying to refuse to do so without sounding like a homer.

David's "negative" comments - whoever picked TN to win the entire SEC was probably trolling.

Our top 15 power index relies too much on returning talent because they may get beat out by new guys.
And too much on assumptions those players were developed every year since their arrival (shot at Jones)

Also talked TN possible return to elite status.
Those other two guys are...well, Dad always said, if you can't say anything good about somebody, don't say anything at all. sooooo

crickets

Going to see the Foo Fighters in September, Tenacious D on Sunday. Pumped. Two of the few bands I’ve always wanted to see live but never have. Really wanna see Muse and Wolfmother live too.

Would rather see the D twice than the Foo. Love me some Wolfmother though too!

It's better than nothing. But you're right. They literally watch 5 minutes of routes on air and stretching and then they make these bold predictions. This is why guys who are the stars of the beat writers' version of fall camps are no shows during football season. Oh well, it's still football news.

As we are pacing and waiting for Fingers post today.lol

I'm still thinking about Pruitt and this strategy of telling recruits to just stand back and watch. All in and not much in the way of backup.
That's a fairly ballsy strategy. We're taking this curve wide open with no airbags and I've done jumped in for the ride.

Fail, and we're limping away from this one. Succeed and it becomes part of TN legend. Not sure how this ends but damn if it isn't kinda fun.
I’m with you - I like the strategy.

However, wins don’t necessarily land recruits (look at Butch’s classes) and Pruitt used this same strategy last year.

I wouldn’t look at it so much as confidence in one particular team and more-so broad confidence in his own coaching.

Oh yeah, even some of the recruits said as much.
"Not necessarily wins but the direction of the program, development of players"

Where'd you end up eating yesterday (or was it Monday), and how'd you like it?
I was just driving up River Road and saw River Road BBQ next door to Kingfish. I started to go to Kingfish, but BBQ sounded good so I tried them. It was good but expensive..a pulled pork sammich, BBQ beans and a bag of chips was 11$ and change...I wish I had just driven back and tried out Doc Crowes or Bearnos for the money...I will next time I'm there for sure. Thanks for the info, I should have just walked over, buy I wanted to explore a little and got sidetracked..lol.

I really like the Louisville area, it is a very interesting place with a ton of character and cool things to do nearby. Hopefully for your sake the rest of America doesn't figure that out..

For sure. We’re in a really weird spot.

I don’t think we can fully grasp how recruits see our program. We’re South Carolina, Missouri, Kentucky, right now. Just with a bigger stadium.

Our base (of tradition and money) should allow for a higher ceiling. But it also seems apparent the pressure of said base has made three straight coaches collapse in on themselves.

He doesn't do that. He is an outsider writing about Tennessee, his opinion is probably the most fair out of any beat writer we have. He does a good job.
I think he is usually fair and he is an ok journalist, and I've said so, but I was just going off what the other poster said of his podcast comments, which irked me, but I don't want to listen to it, so I probably should have waited till someone else confirmed that he was crapping on the program and saying we were never going to return to elite status...which is just an opinion, and probably a bad one considering UTs vast resources.

I enjoyed the Foo Fighters in a 2005 (can't believe it was that long ago) Tampa show with Weezer. They were really good. I just saw Muse in Atlanta this summer and they were really great. The theatrics were amazing. They were awesome, IMHO.

Here is a link to get a flavor of the Muse show from this summer if you have not already seen it.

True. Acceptance of where we are and what it will take, is something I'm not seeing in another forum right now.
Reading posts basically wanting only players that we took from Bama, Ga and Clemson.

I'll never understand the "we are TN, so our coaches/AD have no excuses not to just automatically get everything we want..now" attitude. We do have a good starting base but we're nowhere near just throwing out our name and expecting it handed to us.

I don't even read him so no bias, and you know I'll be honest with you.

In this particular case, it was definitely the other 2 baiting him repeatedly. He was "TN is not there *yet".
They were more scoffing at the idea of us being there period.
