Athlon Sports game by game predictions for Tennessee

Spot on. If it changes it will be a surprise upset and a surprise win. Not one, but, both.
Seems likely that we win one we don't expect and lose one we don't expect.
7 - 5 seems reasonable overall.
There are too many unknown variables to pick every game.
Like one time we probably lost a game because Dobbs stayed up too late doing homework

Trust me when I say that you dont need to worry one bit about BYU, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, South Carolina, Missouri, Mississippi State. A couple of these games will be closer, but we will beat most of them by 21+. BYU ain't got a shot. Coming into Neyland, BYU is gonna have to show me. We almost always play Georgia close besides Jones last year. It's going to be a BATTLE in the swamp this year, I see that game going down to the wire like it usually does. The only game right now that looks really tough is of course Alabama because it's at Bryant Denny.

Trust you? You have been wrong on almost EVERYTHING you’ve predicted.

I believe MState/SC are both 50-50 games but like our chances on both for a win at home. Muschamp curse finally ends. We should have beaten all of Muschamps FL teams and at least 2 of his SC teams. Inept HC kept us from the FL wins. I see several posters on here continue to discount the Zou and not sure why. Vols ar 1-5 against them since they came into the SEC and have beaten us badly the last 2 yrs. I don't think we are at their level just yet but should be soon.

At Their level? Missouri? They are about to get put in their annual permanent slot of 5th in the east. They had a nice little run. Not anymore.

Permanent 5th would work for me they just seem to play over their heads well against us. Of course inept HC has had a part in that which should be changing also. Can't wait for the East to get back to UT, FL, GA as the 3 teams again.

Makes you wonder how these guys get these jobs. Missouri will take a huge step back. That transfer QB is worse then Jalen Hurts when it comes to passing. USC will not escape Neyland with a win. They will not.

Lol. Just like Missouri’s offense was suppose to take a huge step back with Dooley right? Oops. Muschamp will probably beat us again. He has a huge mental advantage over us. I personally think there is a decent chance we lose to Vandy again.

I agree with most of them. I personally think the Scar game goes to us. Muschamp is about to be in a meat grinder of a season. Maybe the hardest schedule he’s ever had as a HC.

For those saying Missouri takes a step back, meh, don’t count on that. KB isn’t a chump as a QB. He might not have Locks arm, but he’s probably one of the better QBs we will face in the East. BUT we do get them coming off of UGA and FL, and we will be coming off of a bye week. So we will at least be rested for them.

If Tennessee loses to BYU, then you can start to prepare yourself for another coaching search in 3-4 years.
I could get over a BYU loss if we show improvement by year’s end and beat USCe and/or MO. I think MSU is an L.

Athlon... La, la, la, la, la, I'm not reading. There's a reason the games are played. I'll count wins and losses as they happen. GBO.

For you guys thinking Mizzou is going to be the/a bottom dweller, that was said eight years ago during and after their first season in the SEC. They have yet to show that since!

I'd gladly give up 3 Wins for a WIN over Bama or Florida. CJP and team need a signature win so people start talking about us again.

We are Tennessee, Damn it!!

I think there's a really good chance we win two of the games these fellas have us losing (not necessarily USCe and Mizzou, though those are the most likely), and lose one of the ones they show us winning (but not Vandy, i hope!).

Result: 8-4.

Go Vols!

I think Miss State gets the win, but they beat Carolina.

Who knows?

Lots of injuries and weird stuff happens between now and game days.

Don't you put that evil on us!

Won't have to- the game is at COLUMBIA, MO.

Boy, you talk about going along with the crowd, not one has a set of................among them. Let's just go with what Tennessee did last year and pick the winners............geesh, get paid for that kind of thinking? Had I known that sports writers did have to play any sports, have strong uninformed opinions and using data from the previous year.............I would have chosen a different path.
NO YOU WOULDN'T...THE PAY IS BEYOND BAD...MOST WORK 2-3 GIGS...FUN JOB...BUT MY MORTGAGE COMPANY REFUSED TO ACCEPT FUN ON THE FIRST EVERY MONTH...

24-26 their last 4 seasons, not exactly world beaters.

My point is USC is not a threat this year, so it's a non issue.
USC problem this year is schedule - voted strongest in SEC this year. Talent-wise pretty close but they are better at QB and Defensive line by a good bit; Vols are better only at WR..PLUS, they believe they can out-tough Vols and find a way to win...
