I never trust anyone's opinion on Nashville restaurants if they don't mention Arnold's. I've been going there since I was 5 (37 years). Jack (the owner is slicing the roast beef anymore, but his wife is still on the register and his son slices it now. It's always on every list for best restaurants in town. It's hands down the best meat and three I've ever had anywhere in the country.

I can tell you are not the type of guy to just let any man slice his beef.

My birthday is in September. Started kindergarten at 4, graduated at 17. Always youngest in my class as well.
Yeah, double checked this morning and then talked to mom. She said a friend pushed for early testing and I was admitted earlier.
Don't know if it varies by county or if it was because it was a hundred yrs ago (feels like anyway) but at least I wasn't crazy. I did start at 4 and was between 1 and 2 yrs younger than everyone else growing up.

We are starting my daughter who just turned 5 in June. She’s too smart to hold back.

My daughter is a July birthday and we started her at 5. She is a freshman now (holy crap) and was always smart enough. She was just always more immature than many of her classmates. She is a great kid though and the vast majority of how they turn out depends on how active the parents are in their lives without smothering them to much.

You must be so proud that she took after dear old dad

We are worried about the immaturity part tbh. Luckily the district we live in has an option for kindergarteners to attend half day. We are planning on doing half days for the first 3 months and ease her into full days.

In Tennessee the birthday limit is August 15. No exceptions. If the child turns 5 before that date then they can start kindergarten. If they turn 5 after that date then they have to wait until the next school year to start kindergarten.

I fell right on that date and ended up with an extra year of school between kindergarten and first grade. Literally saved my teacher's life in that class though, so I guess it was meant to be.

It’s fabulous, but you really can’t recommend it for a weekend trip.

In 1980, Lowndes County (Valdosta), Ga won the state championship. The joke was they were the best college freshman team in the state.
My father in law used to coach HS football and basketball in Chattanooga in the 1960s. Howard was a real powerhouse then, especially in football. I can't remember the coach's name, but my father in law said he was a great coach but that he also had 22 year olds starting for him routinely.

So everybody else here started Kindergarten at 5 or 6? Am I remembering wrong? I turned seventeen my senior year during school but do remember always being the youngest in my class, you guys?
I am not sure when school started back in the stone ages when I went to kindergarten. I do remember I had to go to a private one because there was no kindergarten in Knox County in public schools, then. My birthday is in the middle of September, so I was probably 5 when I started first grade, but turned 6 soon after. Not that anyone really cares, but everybody else is telling their story so why can't I?

My daughter that started after turning 5 the week before did great academically. She graduated college at 19. She seemed to overcompensate for being the youngest and grew up way too fast. She said she felt like she was 30 when she was 18. I wish I would have listened to her kindergarten teacher and waited.
