In Tennessee the birthday limit is August 15. No exceptions. If the child turns 5 before that date then they can start kindergarten. If they turn 5 after that date then they have to wait until the next school year to start kindergarten.

We played in a football tournament this spring and it was by grades. My sons team had an absolute STUD running back. Then I found out the kid is turning 14 this summer and in 6th grade!! Lol

Buffalo Trace is becoming increasing hard to find.....this business is getting out of hand. Announce a bourbon as “bourbon of the year” and it immediately becomes impossible to find. McKenna is a prime example.

Yep, that's what caused the year (grade level) seperation in my kids. They had to make the line somewhere but it just caught us wrong and made it rather annoying.

Don't know if that law was changed after my childhood or if they were just more lazy on enforcement back then. Didn't even attend school in my county in the beginning.

Pretty sure your OP is accurate in Shelby County. My son’s birthday is in early August, and we decided to hold him back a year in kindergarten.

Problem with that is most schools are bursting at the seems. But more students equals more money so the school will accept them anyway.
