The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

I hate the idea of giving into contrived outrage. I just find this to be an overall insulting decision to placate someone who is pretty clearly using this whole thing for attention.

It's irksome that the loud minority can have so much power, but Nike isn't doing anything wrong, and they don't deserve to be punished. The idea that the governor would sacrifice something that he thinks is good for the local economy just for the sake of showing he's taken offense to this is a microcosm of everything that's wrong with our politics. Not surprised to see volfanjussie on that side of it.

Never surprised to see you take the opposite side of the majority on the forum. How else would you get to argue?

Virtue signaling tends to bring out other virtue signalers.

Kap is pretty clearly doing this whole thing for attention, and Arizona pulling tax breaks for Nike is a virtue signal in response to the virtue signal. It's all a contrived mess.

Stupid people get offended by shoe's existence.

Stupid people get offended by shoe's non-existence.

This is America.
Imo it's the reasoning behind it.

CK hates this country but is a millionaire because of it.

Nike gives in to him under the guise of social justice yet CK idolizes Che Gueverra and Fidel Castro.

They aren’t doing anything illegal (and I agree the Arizona governor shouldn’t do anything to hurt his people, even if it’s good politics), but I do think they’re on the wrong side of this debate.

They're not picking a side. That's the whole thing. Their position is that it's good to be a patriot and that CK is a type of patriot. There are also the flag-waving type of patriots. Nike will continue to make red, white, and blue gear, they're just backing off Betsy Ross.

This is less for you and just a general statement, but everybody has their complaints about America. Everybody. I don't get why people find CK's complaints so absurd. Yeah, he's got hypocritical positions. So do basically all D's and R's. Trump won complaining about the way America was. Literally, his campaign slogan implied that America was no longer great. We like it when people have the same complaints as us about America, but when we disagree with their complaints, it's "don't like it, then leave."

My money says Nike is behind this "leak". The last time there was public outrage over Kaep their sales rose 4%. Everyone retweeting and complaining about this is doing exactly what the Nike marketing department hopes you will do. Free marketing at its finest

Kap is a moron for sure. This stance that Nike allowed him to influence a sneaker being released because some other morons might have adopted the flag for white supremacy is absurd. We just keep jumping the shark with this SJW garbage. It has to stop. IMO being a victim and always looking for something to offended by is the definition of a being a pu$$y. So that’s my main problem with this. It doesn’t have to bother you , i guarantee it didn’t 4 years ago. What’s next the 76ers logo? I’m tired of people cal towing to these idiots who have zero perspective whatsoever. And people just go along with it. Boycotting something is on par with that. I don’t believe in boycotting and basically causes in general . Maybe do something constructive with your time Kap, maybe don’t hurt your economy governor . Enough of this bull$hit.

Alright I’m done

Shouldn't pulling tax breaks from a major corporation like Nike cause great joy amongst liberals?

Ask a liberal.

Tax breaks distort competition with similar businesses and with all businesses in the market for labor. We should all get tax breaks or no one should get them. Ducey hands them out because he claims they are good for the economy. If he really believes that, he shouldn't be hurting the economy to make a political statement. When he does this, what he's saying is the tax breaks are about political favoritism.

I don't now, nor will I ever buy Nike. The problem is that Nike knows there are millions that will and this is not even a bump in the road. I hope they go out of business, but it won't happen.

Agree. They won't even notice my business being gone but makes me feel better not giving my money to a company that folds to an anti-American POS
