Burns enters transfer portal

Oh yes, the B-ball thread gestapo and hall monitors will be upon you. Bottom line, the last two recruiting classes were a cluster. You have one notable recruit (James) and not much else. Maybe ORN, but the rest is unimpressive.
The bottom line is what you do on the court and any criticism of Barnes's recruiting will come with the valid replies that our last team, which included 3 NBA draft picks and made the Sweet 16, did not include any top 100 recruits from any class. Not Grant Williams, not Admiral Schofield and not Jordan Bone. I'm not saying that I don't wish we had landed some players that we missed out on. I'm saying that Barnes has earned the benefit of the doubt (at least, so far) when it comes to player development.

Unfortunate. Was hoping the rumors were false. Well, silver lining is it gives us another spot for next years class.

This sugggs. Was really hoping for DJB to work hard all season and off to get in shape. Looked the part. Oh well, bring on the small ball and the 20' recruits.

This just opens the door for the best player on a sh!ty team or a very good 2 deep player on an exceptionally talented team like Duke to enter the transfer portal and don the Orange and White.

BTW, that's all the sunshine I can pump on short notice.

There is a reason Barnes recruited Blackshear, Tre Mann and numerous others. He wanted them.

When they signed Bone, Turner and Williams those were the ones they wanted.

Burns is a fiasco. Get a kid to reclassify and then you literally get nothing. Zilch. It looks really bad.

That's not really on Barnes? That's pretty much on Burns. If he can't control himself and live up the even the minimum expectations, how is that on anyone but himself?

Blackshear could have helped but that was still just a one year stop-gap transfer... Mann? Who cares? We got James. Numerous others? Eh, I think you're making too big a deal of things. The Burns fiasco does look bad... for Burns.

Wow, didn't expect this at all, after missing on Blackshear. Plavsic, absolutely has to be eligible for UT to make the NCAA Tourney, next year. Unless, Pons takes a giant step up and/or ORN is an all-SEC Frosh kinda player. Seems to me like most of Barnes' UT players have showed their most improvement in their 3rd year. Pons, JJ and Kent really need to keep that trend going or we could be in trouble next year. I really hope next year doesn't eff up the potentially greatest UT recruiting class, ever, in '20. Damn, this transfer has really got me worried on several fronts

Well at least we’ll be forced to play Yves at the 4, where he should be. Although I am not someone who gives Barnes a lot of grief, right now I don’t expect to make the tourney and he’d deserve grief for that. But not gonna dish it out until it happens and I look forward to being proven wrong

With Plavsic we'll have post depth.

Quality post depth Im not so sure of but depth none the less.
Agreed, Plavsic absolutely has to be eligible for the '19-'20 team to make the NCAA Tourney, now, imo. I really, really, really hope ORN ends up joining James on the all-SEC Freshmen team. If that happens, UT will be fine, finish top 5 in the SEC and makes the Big Dance, which leads to Walker, Keon, PJ Hall and an elite top 5 PG, like Springer, Love, Stone or a reclassified Hayes resulting in an unprecedented recruiting class for UT in '20

Not going to get a single minute of playing time from the 2018 class.

Yikes
