PG- James 30/Turner 10
SG- Turner 20/Bowden 10/Johnson 10
SF- Bowden 20/Pons 10/Gaines 10
PF- Pons 20/ORN 10/Fulkerson 10

This is pretty close to my thoughts. James will play predominately PG offensively but defensively will guard the 3. Turner is better at 2 but will defend the PG. Bowden starts at the 3. Won’t be considered a small lineup because of James size. Barnes loves him some Fulky so I think he starts at the 4, with Plavsic at the 5 if eligible. Will be a lot of guys rotating in at the 4 and 5 and doubt any of them will play more than 25 minutes per game, maybe not more than 20 as you note.
Depth in backcourt and wings is concerning so Johnson has be able to give a lot of quality minutes. Pons will play both 3 and 4 as backup. Pember really needs a redshirt year but if he has to play it will be more at the 3 because he can shoot from the perimeter, and we could use another shooter. He won’t be able to guard anyone in the post at his current size. Gaines is quite frankly the most interesting decision to me on the entire roster. He may merit a redshirt as well, but our depth is an issue and we can’t wear out James, Turner or Bowden or the 2nd half of SEC play we may fade. I find his weight less problematic than Pember, because on the wing it is not like he is going to be expected to bang down low or rebound in the paint. His skill set is intriguing as he can handle. If his perimeter shooting is decent, he may get some spot minutes too.
We lost a ton of scoring with Grant, Admiral, Jordan, and Kyle gone. Turner has the leadership covered and he is a gamer and clutch as he has proved the last 2 years. Bowden has to get more aggressive. James will be good, no doubt in my mind. Not sure how we make up for the loss of all those points unless we push tempo a lot more. I don’t think we can rely on being a high level defensive team with all these young guys, so we need to score.
Will be a a fun team to watch and Barnes has earned the benefit of the doubt. I think we will be better than most expect. It is not as if everyone else in the SEC didn’t lose players . The entire league and college basketball starts from scratch every year. Kentucky is going to be the favorite to win the league next year and they have new faces throughout their lineup. Their perimeter shooting is going to have to be generated primarily by two freshman. Hagens is a good floor leader but has to improve his shooting a lot. Florida with Blackshear will likely garnish the 2nd best team, and have perimeter talent, but their depth in frontcourt appears lacking. Everyone else in the SEC, throw them in a bucket and we will have to see. I think Barnes has changed the culture and we will continue to be competitive.
