Switching the conversation from punk and heavy to just rock, it's exit from radio was ushered in by it's own evolution.
Most previous rock had a tempo that even the general masses appreciated. From Elvis, through Zeppelin, ACDC to GnR.
But once the deeper, more exclusive style rose, everything changed. Average kids blasting music at a party weren't pumping Alice n Chains for raising spirits in the room lol. Pushed the door the rest of the way open for beat filled rap though.
That's not a knock on the alternative style, just saying it seriously lowered the market. Hard to get signed without the demand and no "the masses" equals no demand. All jmo.

ok, i need the link where you got this from......

Man, it was a pretty thorough rundown, going from like, Bay-area stuff of the early 90's, to the glory days of early 2000's, to kind of an emo-ification of the scene in the late 00's/early 10's, to where we are now, with basically all the face-tatted soundcloud rappers filling the void.

But yeah, my junts were like, Newfound Glory, Sum 41, Motion City Soundtrack, the Matches, Blink/Boxcar Racer, and then like emo stuff like Taking Back Sunday, My Chem, Coheed, Thursday, Matchbook Romance, allll the embarrassing stuff.

Still listen to some of that stuff everyonce in a while to take me back.
Some of my fav's are Finch, Silverstein, Thrice, The Used, Coheed, Senses Fail, Story of the Year, Yellowcard, and etc.

Two of my favorite albums of all time are Story of the Year's "Page Avenue" and Finch's "What It Is To Burn"....those two albums are flawless imo.

Oh man you are talking my bands...to me 15 years ago. Went to Warped Tour and saw many of those bands. Though never saw Thursday, Boxcar, Coheed (who is still touring). I did admittedly see 10 minutes of Dashboard this year at a festival....I couldn't take it.

Liked all that at one point, but I'm also happy to leave it in a box and not ruin the nostalgia. But yeah I'll periodically throw a Blink, Newfound, Thursday or other song into my daily mix just for fun. It's still good fun...just can't take it as seriously as when I first heard TBS and others. Thought it was some meaningful stuff at the time. Now I realize it was, but only for a short period of life.

sounds like something you'd read in a magazine lol. not something you come up wtih on a message board about football, that turned in to a dissertation on rock/punk transitions for the masses

lol.

lss...it sounded really really smart.
Blind squirrel and all.

But was a true music lover back then, watching the transition hurt and gave me plenty of time to think about the cause. Most of my FB comments are just first reactions filled with absolutely no thought.
Just ask anyone 😅

IDK the context of Austin's comment, but Beckwith camped, they worked him at multiple positions, everybody was happy and Pruitt set up a meeting with Barnes. I'm assuming Barnes didn't close the door, and Lamonte is onboard, so I think he's ready to commit.

Logical. And would be fitting considering how bad the VQ mods whiff lately. They just went on a tangent about how Beckwith likely doesn’t make a decision anytime soon because he wants to give basketball schools plenty of time to consider him.

So yeah I could see him popping a day after VQ says that. :)

maybe that's what got me....seemed a lot deeper than the ususal schtick...and i thoughy, surely he's copied that from something he's reading on line.........lol.

way too well thought out, and made too much sense for it not to be.

that, and the "JMO" at the end got me.......lol.
