I get that, I definitely wouldn't take them before they could sit still for an extended amount of time and watch. We went with some friends to the NC State game in Atlanta with their 2+ year old and he did pretty good watching the game, just didn't know if anyone had tried taking younger kids (2-3 years) and it worked out.
yeah, i never gave it a thought. i've seen friends and other family do it, and i've never thought that looked like much fun lol....leaving the game to go change diapers...trying to feed him/her...the inevitable nap.....meh. love my kids. but i want to enjoy my time at stuff like that with them, and they with me.

but that's just me....

well, i think it's fairly clear your original point missed the mark when it was originally presented.

if your only point was that parents should be involved.......then yeah, i think everyone agrees with that. lol.

look at it this way, at least this gave you something to do for the last 1/2 hour.........lol.

Wish it was Friday though...we'll have to find something for tomorrow morning now :(

Yeah, it happens...I tend to reply and go off tangent, not that I'm necessarily replying to a post but that post sparked a different thought that I wanted to share. Probably didn't/shouldn't have quote the Steele post to begin with it, was simply the thing that sparked my soapbox reply which wasn't directly related to Steele's situation.

For the record I completely understand WHY he transferred from Florida and then Oregon. Neither situation were things he could plan for as both were outside his (and his parents) control. I agree with Fulmer though, the portal is mostly a problem because now it's public when it really shouldn't be.

Fans will hear a kid is in the portal and suddenly start bashing/hating without knowing the situation whatsoever.

You can just use the curbside pick up service and not even walk into the store.
I do sometimes, but when I do shop, I want to go in and pick out my own stuff. I don't want some punk-assed 19 year old picking out my pot roast, LOL. I just don't want to spend a ton of extra time looking for stuff that has been moved around because some marketing genius thought it was a good idea.

Yeah, I'm not a "heated poster" or emotional...I am well aware my tone may imply otherwise in text though.

I ain't trying to "get at anyone" I just like debate/discussion so I'm game. Never my intention to insult anyone (unless just picking) just not my style.

Never thought you were. Just debating different points without realizing.

Which strengthens my opinion they shouldn't be "on their own" with the decisions.

Cliffs: Parents should invest more time into helping their kids seeing the full impact of their college decision.
And to be fair, most schools are no better than used car salesmen. They’ll say whatever it takes to get a signature.

I don’t think this system has ever been student-athlete friendly.

Without a doubt, and I agree completely. One thing I personally like about Barnes & Pruitt, what they tell their recruits might not be what they want to hear but they shoot them straight at least (that's my understanding at least).

i get what you're saying here, and agree at a certain level......especially during the "sales pitch" stage.

but let's not pretend that they don't get something out of it.....free ride to a college degree, plus all the perks that come with being a football player at a D1, P5 school...

i mean, it's not a bad gig.........it's not like they're being forced in to something that's victimizing them.

Adrian Peterson thinks differently...

It's typical 'clickbait' media treatment unfortunately. I mean rather than share a % they use big numbers "OVER 1500 KIDS ALREADY IN THE PORTAL!!!" 1500 out of how many though? Transfer portal is for all student athletes in any sport too. It seems like a huge number when presented like that. But it's really a small % of the kids putting their names in there. Close to half a million student athletes per year.

"Currently 0.3% of student athletes have entered the transfer portal" doesn't sell like "Over 1500 student athletes have entered the transfer portal since October"

The man gets fouled every time he goes to the rim and doesn’t get calls because he’s so big... but yeah I feel ya on the Lebron fatigue.. I tell people all the time, that if Jordan played in the social media era, he’d be the most hated man on the planet.
Saying LeBron gets fouled every time he goes to the basket confuses me. He pushes off w his elbow on every drive. What is the defense supposed to do just move out of the way and give him a clear lane??
He literally initiates every contact he receives. I am willing to consider that because of my hate for him i May be biased but there is definitely some truth too.
Same thing for Kawahi, he leads w that other arm in the defenders body clearly pushing off.
Yes I am a Warrior fan!! Lol

I agree. I probably could have taken my son a year or two earlier, but he went to his first last year at age 8. He is now into watching play by play. It's just different than taking them to a movie. At 6, he could sit still, but he really didn't yet understand how the game was played.

Last year, I took him and my Dad, who hadn't been to a game in a while. It was a blast to have a "three generation" weekend.
