Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

Anyone heard anything about Zion Harmon? Apparently we’re one of his top schools. Never heard much at all about him related to us.

We always have. Heavily recruiting Memphis public school kids is not a sound investment for our coaches.

Baloney.
That kind of comment is guaranteed to cause bad feeling with coaches and players alike in Memphis.
They use the term "cracker" to refer to someone who thinks that way.
UT did not have much to offer, until Barnes's great year this year, in the minds of a whole bunch of coaches in
Memphis who had heard a whole bunch of crackers over the years make disparaging comments.

Nobody is that dumb; so you have to be from another school, trying to slam the Vols, IMO.

So coaches and players in Memphis referring to people by using racial slurs like “cracker” is my problem, now.

Not sure how saying that recruiting the city of Memphis is a waste of UT’s resources is a disparaging comment? Who is it insulting? The only insults I’ve seen tossed around over the idea have come directly from you calling people mentally challenged, crackers, and questioning the fandom.

Again, name all the Memphis HS kids Tennessee has landed out of HS over the last 20 years. It shouldn’t take you long and will be a short list.

Please, enlighten me.

Aren't Tony Harris and Michael Brooks about the only two players actually from Memphis that played significant minutes? I think that Dane Bradshaw came from outside the city.

Bradshaw played for White Station, so he fits the criteria. He and Jarnell Stokes, who Tennessee landed under only ideal circumstances and his extremely limited options, are the only two I can think of since Tony Harris 22 years ago.

Scooter McFadgon and JP Prince we’re both transfers.

I believe he recruited him to oakland. I know he hasn't committed and could be waiting to see if they keep Washington. JMO
Ahh gotcha. From a quick search it seemed many thought that Cincinnati was a likely option because his cousin Jarron Cumberland is a member of the team...seemingly would be a quality add, good numbers and can play 1 or 2.

Have you heard anything about Turner's latest shoulder scope or is that something I dreamed? Losing him or bowden could be catastrophic for us. Like to see us pull a grad guard just in case.

Had the surgery about 6 weeks ago, haven’t heard anything bad so I’m guessing it all went well. Would definitely like to add someone, doesn’t have to be a star, but another 15-20mpg guy would be nice.

So looking at graduate transfers available, best ones per ESPN...

Shakur Juiston UNLV PF 6’7” 220lbs 30mpg 13.9ppg 9.7rpg

Jaevin Cumberland Oakland SG 6’3” 185lbs 37mpg 17.2ppg 3.5apg 40%3pt

Derryck Thornton USC PG 6’3” 185lbs 28mpg 7.7ppg 4.3apg

Donte Fitzpatrick-Dorsey TSU SG 6’4” 191lbs 28mpg 14.3ppg 5.4rpg 38%3pt...from Memphis, TN

Dorsey would be a nice pick up.

They are two who saw the light after falling to the false sales pitches.

Don't forget about the guy with the best 'stache in UT history, Lang Wiseman
