When you have distance and accuracy like he does. You don't need to be creative
and now with the weather...the course just got longer. really favors guys like DJ and Brooks.....but the greens should slow down, and that will give everyone a chance to make shots, and be aggressive with the putter.

should be a good day....if they can get it in.

meh. they're anti winning. they'd be the same ones that would cry if he left because we didn't do enough to keep him and that this university doesn't care about winning....wah, wah, wah...

they can't have it both ways. be cheap and mediocre, or put your money on the table and take your shot at being great.

but pick one, and don't complain after you made your choice.

Facts. The idea that we should have just paid a better coach the money we did Barnes is also kind of funny. Thinking you're going to pull a Mark Few or Jay Wright to Knoxville from basketball first schools AND pay their likely absurd buyouts...

to me, that's not even the point. though i agree with you.

people hung up on the price tag because of lack of banners etc....need only know one thing....the reason it cost what it cost is because UCLA said he was worth $5M/year.

period. at that point, Tennessee just had to decide is the juice worth the squeeze......

bottom line, there was no outcome that would have pleased everyone....as stated above....we either paid to much for a guy that's never done anything....or...we let one of the most successful bball coaches in our history walk w/out a fight.

anyway, i've no problem with it. showed me we're now committed to having winning athletic programs at TN. we aren't settling anymore, and we're not going hope and wish the next guy works out. you got what you got and it's working? then keep building on it. we're doing it in football---retained Fitz, hired chaney, ansley, martin....doing it in women's bball....fired a lady that has her jersey in the rafters at TBA because just getting to the nCAA isn't the standard here...and we're doing it in Mbb...we're doing it in baseball.......

yeah....go spend the money. expect the results. GBO. all gas, no brakes.

Koepka is a stone cold killer on the golf course. On Feherty he said he goes into a zone and really doesn't think about anything when he is playing well. You can tell by his eyes when it's happening. DJ is playing very well - it's all on his putting. It will probably come down to who is the boss of the moss on the back nine on Sunday as it nearly always does. Weather will play a big part.

I can't think of anyone better that realistically was coming here.
Now I have zero issues with raised expectations, automatically comes when you negotiate in that stratosphere. I'm sure Barnes gets that too. But the "we should have just grabbed someone better"? Like they come on racks and clearance sales, smh.

And the Fulmer hate over the Barnes' contract and the KJH hire. "Worst AD we've had"... good grief. We're our own worst enemy.

We're gonna have to send your in home nurse to whoever is saying Fulmer is the worst AD we've had

yup. as far as i can tell, Fulmer has done more in the last, what, 15 months or so, than any of the last three AD's did in the last 10 years....

still a work in progress obviously....results will be the ultimate judge..... but you'd be hard to argue err'thing's not going in the right direction.

Agreed. Not a baseball guy, but that pitcher looked the part of an MLB pitcher...
If you're talking about the Georgia pitcher, he will be a MLB pitcher. If you watched the game, we were extremely fortunate to win. We scored our 2 runs on an infield single. That's pretty much impossible to do. Our guys showed tremendous heart and they have no quit in them. We have one of the best young coaches in baseball and his staff is really good. This team will only get better in years to come.

Amen! When Barnes landed in our lap, we weren’t getting interest from the Archie Miller’s of the coaching landscape. That’s University of Dayton Archie Miller! If UCLA lifts Barnes out from under us, they think we fill that spot with Cronin? I have my doubts. Barnes has made the job more attractive, the top line coaches aren’t going to abandon what they’ve established to attempt a replication of Barnes model in Knoxville. Josiah James...and Devonta Gaines/Drew Pember? Jay Wright yeah right!
