If you're talking about the Georgia pitcher, he will be a MLB pitcher. If you watched the game, we were extremely fortunate to win. We scored our 2 runs on an infield single. That's pretty much impossible to do. Our guys showed tremendous heart and they have no quit in them. We have one of the best young coaches in baseball and his staff is really good. This team will only get better in years to come.
i was impressed w/our pitching. shut out on the #2 team int eh country? it's not like their line up sucks......lol. agree about the runs we scored, but the pitching got us there....that'll keep us in a lot of games this season if it can be consistent.

I can't think of anyone better that realistically was coming here.
Now I have zero issues with raised expectations, automatically comes when you negotiate in that stratosphere. I'm sure Barnes gets that too. But the "we should have just grabbed someone better"? Like they come on racks and clearance sales, smh.

And the Fulmer hate over the Barnes' contract and the KJH hire. "Worst AD we've had"... good grief. We're our own worst enemy.
There's people in The Lady Vols forum that think Fulmer should be fired for KJH hire.

Arkansas bringing in Eric Musselman (110-34, .764) 4 years experience
Alabama bringing in Nate Oats (96-43, .691) 4 years experience
Texas A&M bringing in Buzz Williams (253-155, .620) 8 years experience

Those are some solid hires...names not available too if Barnes had left, I'm not sure where we could have gone...I'm actually glad we're not in a search. Hoping Musselman and Oats end up having Mark Fox type success and not Bruce Pearl type in the SEC though.

I'm just saying if Barnes had left Steve Forbes was the top realistic name on my list
that would have pissed me off. optics on that are terrible. UCLA plucks our coach, and we settle for they guy they fired?

talk about being put in your place as a program....ugh.

definitely glad it worked out like it did for us.

that's not a commentary on forbes himself mind you...just what it looks like.

edit. whoops. wrong steve. y'all have fun at my expense. you're welcome. lol.

Mine too...and preferable to Musselman and Oats.

I know Oats was hired before the UCLA approaching of Barnes...not sure if Musselman was or wasn't. But honestly I agree Forbes to me is the best value option available.

Having been under Pearl & Marshall I'm surprised he's not gotten a bigger job yet. Dude has won everywhere he's been so far.

Dude has been solid at ETSU and for what he makes there I dont think it would've been too hard to get him

I thought it was a joke till a few years ago. It’s quite the phenomenon (flat earth folks)
Exactly!!
I honestly thought it was a spoof of some sort, until people started posting stories here.
For another week, I was still like "no freaking way" they really believe this.

I'm still not convinced it's not like one or two certifiably crazy people and then a bunch of people unbeknownst to each other who think they are trolling flat earthers by pretending to be flat earthers and egging each other on. And so the flat earthers are just trolling in a circle. Or sphere.

Plate, a flat plate...with a dome over it, like Truman show.

Biggest reason (to me) that UT went ahead and paid Barnes was to keep the forward momentum. He's not likely to win 30 games this next season, but even if he loses Gran & Bone I still think enough talent is there and coming in to win 20 or more and make the NCAA. We would have without a doubt lost the 5 star PG coming in 2019, and then who knows what would have happened with 2020 class...which honestly is the one where we could see Barnes pull in 3 or 4 big time players.

I think that had this all happened -last- season, Barnes would have been leaving. Having just hired a new OC, DC and Tee then also being in the middle of a coaching search for the Lady Vols played into the university just paying Barnes more to keep him here.

If...(and I hope it doesn't happen, but never know) Barnes is targeted again I think he'll be allowed to leave.

But not many - most liked her press conference and have a wait and see mindset. I snuck over there last night and read through most of the related threads. Again, same 1/2 dozen over and over and over....
