I stay calm. I may argue, but I can assure you I never let this message board get my blood pressure up. I try to make coherent, fact based arguments to facilitate discussion.
Again, I think if we are looking at just the Stanford game it certainly looks that way. However, They have scored 69, 89, 94, and 89 points in their previous 4 games (three of which were against top 25 teams).Harper has teams play tough D and not a very good offense. Tries an old formula that won’t succeed with the changes that have occurred in the women’s game. It’s the same thing Holly was doing. Now, she would have more respect from players and knows the X and O’s better than Holly but will not have major success here IMO.
Pat Summitt's 1st job was at UT.It seems to me that the priority is keeping it in the Vol family at all cost. Not sure I agree with this approach. I much prefer hiring the best coaching candidate available. I hear Kara Lawson being mentioned.. Is she even a coach? This is getting a bit out of hand.
I know people keep ignoring the backstory about all that transpired at NCSt. and why that simply wasn't the right fit for her. But none of those issues would hinder Harper at Tennessee.
I would love to know the back story. What I do know is she was hired by one AD to follow in the shadow of a beloved legendary coach at NCST and was let go after the AD that hired her was let go by the new AD. The new AD happened to be the sister of the legendary coach and she brought in her coach. She has been Coach of the year in two different conferences and took 3 teams to the NCAA tourny. She took a team described as over achieving to the NCAA at NCST followed that up with a down rebuilding season with injuries to 2 WNIT tournys before being let go in a total cluster situation at State. She recruited a Frosh All American at State that she developed. She did not win enough and she was let go during a period of 2 years that saw Yow fire and hire 7 coaches at NCST. I do not know the backstory and would be interested in knowing it. The articles still on line are just meat and potato news of her firing.
